Do you earn up to 10%ol of that (60,000) in your workplace?

Funny enough...as a doc, I earn more than 10% of that.(Working in rural medicine....I used to earn 5%-10% of that !).

And no....I am not jealous. He will be retired from football once he reaches 40....while I will still be working.

But my point is....we lose our good players to Europe because we do not have enough investment in our league. N80m is no money. English clubs get 20million pounds for moving up to the Premier league.

Meanwhile...his mates in other countries earn $75000 and above.....a week.

He will soon go abroad.
guy let's tell ourselves the truth. What you know is what you know. Talking from experience apart from England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Holland, Turkey, France and some few European nations the rest don't pay up to 10k dollars a month. Honestly assuming naija clubs pay the exact amount agreed on paper believe me no players will rush to Europe. This season as we speak, movement of players reduced so much compare to last season where any little opportunity the players are out of the country to sign buy now the players too are comparing what they earn here in naija to what they are been offered over there. But you fans feel if a player goes to negotiate and he didn't sign that means he is not good enough. Another reason the used to run to Europe was becos they want to play in Super Eagles. You know that foreign base mentality?

guy what was the earnings of this your English clubs in the early 90s when it was called just 'league'? It a gradual process. Do you know how much the winner of the league used to take before? Highest as at 10yrs ago 3m or at times nothing. Now they will get 80m and u are still comparing. Relax abeg. How much was Tufac and Co earning some years back as appearance fee? As at 2002 the highest earner was getting less than 100k but now? You know the story. So cool down I knw that 5yrs from now you people calling naija league trash will beg to associate ur selves with the league.

The winer of the 2014/2015 season of the Globacom-sponsored Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will pocket a whopping N80m after proceedings have been concluded on the final day of the league, the chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has revealed.

Dikko, who made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on yesterday’s edition of the African Independent Television’s morning show, Kakaaki, said: “The club that wins the league this season will earn as much as N80m in revenue share, merit award, bonuses and kind and even the relegated club will earn a minimum of N55m. There are incentives for away wins, draws, attracting crowds to the games and we also provide official match balls to the teams including kit bags for the players. More importantly, we are seeking pool sponsorship for all 20 clubs so their finances will improve and consequently, the welfare of players as well as drive the commercialisation of the clubs so as to make them attractive to investors”

Also, Dikko disclosed that it was high time the government partakes in developing the stadia for the league, because after years of support and financial backing from the private sector, the LMC said it would love the government to participate more and help the game of football in the country grow in leaps and bounds.

“Since the LMC came aboard, our funding has been sourced from commercial partnerships as is the practice globally. Though we appreciate the companies that have bought rights from us, we are still not where we should be financially. This explains our recent visit with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the Nigeria Stock Exchange,” he disclosed.

Also, he made a case for the game in the nation, citing successful examples around the world.

“In the 1990’s, the government of Margareth Thatcher in the UK provided over £200m for the upgrading of stadia facilities across England and that contributed critically to what we have today as the best League in the world. More so, today, the UK Government is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the EPL, generating billions of pounds in taxes, football tourism, jobs and other socio-economic activities that are hinged on the EPL in the UK. We also would seek government’s intervention in this direction. We are not asking for funds to be handed to anyone but for government to directly fund the upgrade of existing grounds and provision of required broadcast equipment and facilities in the stadia,” he posited.

they should have just rounded it up to 100 million. I was actually wondering why most NPL clubs have all of a sudden woken up. Kudos. We will get there soon.

Football in this country used to be a game to watch; what happened to the good old days when our stadiums were overflowing with fans? Football and other sporting activities if encouraged have the capacity to reduce crime by at least 50% because you basically need to be strong and athletic to carry out these violent crimes we're bedeviled with today.

I was just thinking about our league yesterday and the various investment opportunities that could be available. With a population like ours and general love of football, the NFPL should be upthere for reals.

I hope PMB thinks of something to improve our football and it's outlook.

You should have asked him how many jobs in Nigeria pays up to 600k monthly.

Remember they only play once or max 3 times a week for 2 hours each max.

You expect players to earn billions yet you line up spending money to watch foreign leagues to the detriment of your own country clubs. yeye...

That why we lose some of best players to north African and European clubs cause of money. If find a way to pay our best players more then they'll stay in Nigeria.
