Members of the movement for the Indigenous
People of Biafra (IPOB) numbering about a
hundred were arrested on Sunday, September 6
by police operatives in Asaba, Delta state.

News about the arrest was published by an online
newspaper, Today reports, stating that the IPOB
members were arrested for what was termed
unlawful assembly.
Mrs. Celestina Kalu who is the spokesperson of
the state police command said the suspects were
arrested in a location in Asaba after concerned
Nigerians wrote a letter to the inspector general
of police, Solomon Arase.
The letter stated that the people were not
comfortable with the activities of the group
which prompted the police to take action.
According to sources, the members were involved
in their meeting which was perceived to focus on
separatism when conventional and mobile policemen
busted them.
It was reported that the meeting was going on in
an abandoned textile mill and the members were
unaware of the presence of the police until they
were surrounded.
The police spokesperson said investigation had
commenced but declined to reveal the exact
location where the arrests was carried out.
One of the members of IPOB who escaped said
they didn’t know how the police got wind of the
location of their meeting.

He said: “I jumped through the fence on a head
breath when I noticed policemen presence and
they swooped on my other members, I do not
know how they got the information that we were
inside the premises where the gates were locked.”

The United Nation declaration which Nigeria is a
signatory to calls it a fight for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to live in freedom; Yet, at home the Nigerian govern ignorantly call it
treason.

Africa and their poor mentality... No wonder their is always a senseless tribal war in africa.
