1.Although his West Coast appreciation indicated otherwise, Shakur was born in East Harlem, New York, on June 16, 1971.
He first moved to the West coast (Marin County) in 1988, at the age of 17.


2.Shakur's real name was Lesane Parish Crooks.
Afeni Shakur, Tupac's mother, renamed him Tupac Amaru Shakur a little under a year after Tupac was born. Shakur was named after the South American revolutionary Túpac Amaru.

Túpac Amaru was a South American revolutionary who led the indigenous revolt against Spanish rule. The revolutionary would be executed by his oppressors. "Tupac Amaru" means "shining serpent." "Shakur" means "thankful to God" in Arabic.


3. Afeni Shakur was an active member of the Black Panther party. Tupac Shakur was born one month and three days after Afeni had been acquitted of charges of "Conspiracy against the United States government and New York landmarks.
Afeni spent time in jail while she was five months pregnant with Shakur.


4. Jada Pinkett (Will Smith's wife) had a very deep platonic relationship with Tupac.

The poem "Tears in the Cupid's Eyes" from his poetry book The Rose That Grew From Concrete is dedicated to her.


5. While attending school in Baltimore, he joined the Young Communist League USA.


6. Shakur, under his new stage name Makaveli, completed The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theoryin seven days, using three days to write and record the songs and four days to mix the album.


7. Shakur was supposed to play a lead role in Menace II Society, but after an altercationwith co-director Allen Hughes, he was replaced with Larenz Tate.



8. According to Shakur, while filming Poetic Justice, he was asked to take an HIV test before he could film a love scene with Janet Jackson.



9. He dated Madonna, who reportedly wanted to have his baby



10. He was a Shakespeare aficionado.

11. Before the whole East Coast vs. West Coast beef, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. were actually friends. Tupac bought Biggie his first Rolex watch.


12. Me Against the World hit number one on the Billboard 200, making Shakur the first artist to accomplish this feat while serving a prison sentence.


13. While in prison, Shakur was heavily influenced by the written works of Niccolò Machiavelli, especially The Prince.
Hence the change in his stage name from 2Pac to Makaveli.


14. After Shakur was cremated, members of the Outlawz mixed some of his ashes with marijuana and smoked it.


15. In 2010, "Dear Mama" was the third rap song in history to enter the National Recording Registry.


16. Shakur renamed his publishing company from Ghetto Gospel to Joshua's Dream after 11-year-old Joshua Torres.
Joshua Torres was an 11-year-old kid, and avid Tupac fan, who was dying from complications of muscular dystrophy. As a way to lift his spirits, Joshua's mother phoned a local radio station and inquired how she could get Tupac to phone in and talk to her son. According to the Baltimore Sun, Shakur not only phoned in, he also flew into Aberdeen, Wash., and paid a visit to Joshua Torres. Two hours after his visit, Joshua passed away.


17. Shakur shot two off-duty police officers. However, charges were dropped when it was discovered that the officers were drunk, in possession of stolen weapons, and lied to police officers.


18. He cried after having a conversation with Maya Angelou on the set of Poetic Justice.


19. Tupac wrote his hit song “ Dear Mama” while in prison.


20. The song “Me And My Girlfriend” is about his gun, not his girlfriend.


21. Tupac had sex with almost all the women during the filming of the X-rated “How Do U Want It?” video. He collapsed from exhaustion.

22. Tupac said that because of his moms ties with the Black Panthers, the FBI was always after him and his family.


23. Tupac's first appearence ever was on Digital Undergrounds Same Song where he raps wearing West African war clothes in the video.


24. Porn Star Spontaneous XXXStacy, who's been in magazines like Portfolio and Players has a tattoo on her arm with Tupacs name and the title of the song "Keep Ya Head Up."


25. Tupac has a huge cross on his back that says Exodus 18:11 a reference to where the bible says "Now I know That the Lord is Greater Than All Gods because he delivered the people from the hands of the Egyptians when they dealt with them arrogantly."
 

26. Tupac was first inspired to rap when a friend of his was killed while he was playing with a gun. His first rap was about gun control.
 

27. Snoop Doggy Dogg has in his house a life-size cardboard cut-out of Tupac with his middle finger up giving the Thug Life Salute.
 
28. In a German music show they had Nas in it. They asked him to which rapper he looks up to. At first Nas was like "you know, I'm more like doin' my own thang" but then he said "well, some people might not like me sayin' that I developed lots of respect for Tupac"
 

29. When Tupac was a child and he would get into trouble, his mother would make him sit in the corner and read the 'New York Times', and she would later quiz him on the articles.


30. Lil'Kim once said that Bad Boy did a track dissing Tupac but they didn't released it after Tupac died. The song did not feature Biggie; it was only Lil'Kim and Junior M.A.F.I.A.
 

31. According to MC Hammer, Tupac told him that he wanted to do free concerts for schools and the only way you could get in was to have a C or better grade average.

32. According to Daz Dillinger, Tupac made about 700 songs (!!!) at Death Row Records which have not been released yet.


33. Tupac shielded Suge Knight from the bullets that were fired on the night of September 7th, 1996 by trying to jump into the back of the car.
 
34. Snoop Doggy Dogg and Tupac didn't talk to each other after their last trip to N.Y. together. This was because Snoop made a song dissing Death Row called "Death Row Killaz". They later were friends again.
 
35. Afeni Shakur said that she knew that Tupac would be special from the time he started to grow in her womb because she had four miscarriages befor Tupac!
 
36. E.D.I. Amin and Kastro of The Outlawz say that the "Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" album was recorded in 7 days. That why it was called that way. They also said that Tupac didn't have a religion but that he believed in God. Kastro siad that one of the things Tupac said to him was, "The only thing that comes to a sleeping man is dreams."

37. Afeni Shakur once told MTV that Tupac knew his time left and that he worked like a'demon'and that he has about 10 years worth of material that hasn't been released!

 
So, yes, Tupac was a controversial figure...


But he's also THE GREATEST RAPPER WHO EVER LIVED.

Wow..he was truly a great man..well too bad for tupac,i dont like his music,too eccentric and too much strong language...i prefer gentle rappers like asap rocky and BOB
