dejavski: I'm not itsekiri but funny part I was able to read this part you posted "Mo ki agha oma itsekiri dede yi gha nibe" Which means "mo ki awa omo itsekiri dede ti(o) wa nibi" Between I'm yoruba ooo, is this coincidence? Somebody educate me, I know ilaje is yoruba sha but itsekiri I don't think so,pardon my naivety. It sound more like the ijebu-yoruba sha,I stand to be corrected tho 4 Likes 1 Share |

pazienza: And what has your cosmological rants proven other than the fact that Anioma is different from the people of the Niger Delta? The Ndokwa share the same cosmological stand with the Niger Deltans as reflected in their dressing (George Wrappers), their social life, their view of the spirit world and patrilineal ancestral worship, their myths and legends which are largely connected to the itinerants myths and legends of the Niger Delta people. Even their language seems to be more diluted than mainstream Anioma people. That is not to say Ndokwas are in anyway kith or kin with the Niger Deltans but simply to assert that they seem to have more cultural ties than main stream Igboid cultures such as Anioshimili people. Ijaws are Edoid but the language itself is not in the Edoid family. It forms its own Ijoid category entirely. I say they are Edoid because of Cultural affinity and on the grounds that these people were long time inhabitants of Igodomigodo(Ile-Ubinu, now Benin) before the time of the Ogisos. Please instead of insulting people on Nairaland, kindly update your knowledge of History and make good use of Historiography. I wont insult you as you have insulted my person. It'll make you always remember that some people wont ever stoop so low in intellectual engagements where meta-analysis forms the basis of any argument. |

Eastlink: And you just assume everyone who writes on Nairaland is a South Easterner? Smh. Such a fallacy of hasty conclusion, the hallmark of one with a faulty intellectual acuity. I wont even bother to trade insults with you because I have seen that your problem cannot be solved with words but with a cage, a table, some books and possibly Diazepam. |

fratermathy: There is nothing like Niger delta people. And no, Ndokwa share no ancestral myths, worship and legend with the people of Itsekiri, Ijaw, Isoko, Urhobo any more than they share with the fangs of Gabon. Ukwuani is Igboid in culture and everything, they share same riverine culture as the Ogbaru communities of Anambra. As for the dressing, well almost the whole of west Africa dress alike in so many ways. Yes, Ndokwa are Isoko/ Urhobo neighbors, but that does not give you the right to separate Ndokwa from Enu ani, just to expand your Edoid Influence. Ndokwa remains part of Anioma, together with Enu ani and Ika, and the culture remains strongly riverine Igbo, and continuous with those of Ogbaru communities in Anambra state, which are part of the greater Anioma area. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Not that bad at all! Nigeria is culturally superior to South Africa indeed, most especially, to the xenophobic Zulus. |

and who told you there is nothing like Niger delta people?? this thread isn't for rants by non urhobos/ijaws/itshekiris/isokos. yes there is such a thing as Niger delta people. and our people have been using the term from time immemorial. its not my fault the Igbo's get left out or are neglected whenever ND is mentioned. pazienza: 1 Like 1 Share |

Ioannes: History books and our forefathers told us that the Itsekiris are descendants of the Yorubas. So, its not unusual if the language is similar to Ondo people and also the Ilajes in the riverine areas of Ondo state. 3 Likes |
