P R O L O G U E: The nite was still young with the streets still bustling with activity, but the nite was coming to an end for a fellow named Udouka who lived in the bustling city of Owerri he worked for a petrol-chemical Company in the region, and lived a luxury lifestyle, but now there was no more luxury left for him as he sat down on the floor like a wounded lion in his own apartment with his clothes soaked in his own blood, he tried thinking where their plans had gone wrong, the plan was soundproof he had made sure of that, but him on the floor bleeding to death was pure evidence that their plans had taken a terrible hit, all he could try to do now was try to warn the others, so that at least their fates would be better than his, he began reaching out with his hands for his phone on the couch, when he was immediately interrupted by a voice "i wouldn't try doing that if i were you," the voice was that of a man, he had a tall figure with broad shoulders, his complexion was like that of a new born baby, fair and bright, he wore a black suit which suited his physique perfectly making him look like the perfect gentleman, then he was completed with his hat which looked like that of a boar's skin. "Who are you,and what do you want, if its money u will get it, please just spare me", Udouka pleaded, "ok you want to know what i want right??,lets start with the files that you stole, or should we start with what you and your group intended to use the files for??, Udouka hearing this from the man in the hat, he immediately knew his demons had finally caught up with him, but he was running out of time he knew it and he wanted to get a victory out of all this mess, so he started talking, "so whats your name my friend" Udouka asked, but the man on the hat ignored his question, but he continued nonetheless "If am here bleeding to death, it means that our plan to uncover the secret plot of the Nigerian Government was exposed by one of us, i would have loved to know who the traitor in our group was, but you wouldn't know either, so do me a favour as you continue your mission, please don't make them suffer like me, just make it quick, cause you wont get shit from us" the pain began to grow in his body the sniper who had shot him had hit his legs and grazed his stomach through his window, he was soon to give up the ghost, then the man with the hat finally spoke "the reason why you're not dead yet is because i wanted to see the threat to national security before i put a bullet in its chest myself" Udouka just smiled as the man in the hat spoke then he said "they're just gonna send someone else to end you when you're through with us", "maybe, maybe not, i'll be ready when that day comes" saying this he brought out his pistol inserted the silencer at the nozzle then deposited two bullets in Udouka's chest. The cool breeze of the night was as chilling as ever with two more hours to go to midnight,a couple could be seen walking, they had just left a bush bar at the region of Awka known as Tempsite, as they walked into the streets of Awka Anambra state smiling and enjoying each others company, the roads were lonely but they didn't mind at all, they felt safe in each others company, why wouldn't they feel safe when the crime rate had reduced and kidnappers were all running from the law, the state was surely a place to be now, every where was calm as all the shops and eateries were already closed or closing for the day, as they approached the busstop attempting to enter a bus, the first shot went off, hitting the woman at her head, there had been a sniper who had been waiting for them at a rooftop close to the busstop, with the cover of the night on the sniper's side no one was sure to uncover the snipers location, the next shot hit the driver on his chest, with shouts of aggreviating pain the driver began screaming not knowing when he hit the acceleration of the bus, zooming them off and hitting a parked car nearby, the next bullet from the sniper ended his pain for him as it found its way into his heart, then the night became still. While all this was going on the man who had been with the woman, seeing the woman's brain splash on the bus had immediately ducked for cover inside the bus,he immediately brought out his pistol loaded it and warned the driver not to move, before he was killed by the snipers bullets, calculating his options he pushed the body of the woman out of the car,but the sniper didn't fire which to him meant that the sniper couldn't see the whole environs of the area, he began sneaking down, slowly crawling out of the car, he still had his gun in his hand that was when he saw his opportunity, there was a car parked nearby with perfect cover from the sniper, he kept on crawling until he reached the car, then he entered it, the night was still young, looking at the scene where the shooting just went down minutes ago, he could still see the damaged bus with the driver on his seat and the lady he was with earlier on the grounds of the street both dead, he then put his wandering mind on the car looking for the wires to spark the car to a start when he heard a voice from the back-seat of the car welcome him; "been waiting for u jude, hope my sniper didn't roughen your clothes, but you're a hard man to track, so where are the files Jude". "I know am done for right??",Jude replied. The man at the back-seat replied him; "You sure are, my friend, so where are the files. but before you try anything stupid i wouldn't like to end the life of a fine young man like you with a promising career" the parked car was quiet for a while then jude finally broke it "you know that if you know about me,others would be looking for the files right, by others i mean rich private corporations who would be anxious to know about the hidden projects in which the Government spent millions of dollars on and why they would want to so badly clean up any mess even with the killing of her own citizens" jude said, "well thats their problem, am just here to retrieve the stolen files and return them to my superiors, just give me the files and you can walk out that door unharmed" the man with the hat replied, hearing the unknown man's words jude began to laugh then began his cursing "Bleep you,you bastard you can kiss my a...", before Jude could finish his sentence the man with the hat at the back- seat shot him at the head, then again and again and again, until the front seat was filled with blood and brain tissues. "Things could have gone way better for you Jude, well u're lucky Udouka asked me not to make u suffer" after his last words to the remains of jude's lifeless body he then left the car sighing, bringing out his mobile phone, he called to the sniper on the roof, "he's not with the files lets head onto our next target, and please keep a slice of that dominoes pizza u're eating for me dear", the sniper giggled "i could have taken him at the bus you know that right" the man smiled then responded, i know that's why i chose u, remember, then he ended the call. The man who had been in the back seat of the car,now outside began adjusting his hat, twisting his neck and as he straightened his suit, he spoke to himself; "its gonna be a long trip to Lagos". |

CHAPTER 1 It looked like the beginning of just another day on the streets of Lagos, the land of opportunity, having the highest population in Nigeria, and also the heart of the Nigerian economy her current human population was warranted, as her population kept on growing so did the crime rate and environmental degradation, cases of armed robberies, assaults, murders were the norm in Lagos, with the State and Federal Governments pouring in human and material resources into the state to put the crime rate to a halt, but their success rate over the years had been stunted by political and economic crisis in the country. While somewhere in Lagos, within the popular Festac Town at 4th avenue to be exact something horrible was about to happen. Festac town was just the place to be, known for its numerous eateries, botiques and flexing zones, It sure was wonderful to be a resident there, even Shoprite opened a branch on the outskirts of Festac Town to feel some of the Festac air, you wouldn't blame them because Festac town has been known as the breeding ground for Ajebutters over the years before the advent of "Lekki, Banana Island, Victoria's Island and others", still even with all the new locations opening up everyday in Lagos, Festac was still a place to be. The sound of the alarm by the security men to signify the long awaited arrival of 6'o clock was heard around the neighbourhood, as the sound echoed into the ears of every living thing, that was within its range, there was nothing more horrible for the residents children than hearing the sound of the alarm, they were not so happy about being disturbed from their sleep, even the dogs in the neighbourhood vented their anger by responding with series of barks, as if begging the security-men to stop the horrible torture, but the groaning and barks of the children and the dogs respectively fell on deaf ears as usual,as this had been going on for a very long time, and was still going to stay far longer after their demise from the neighbourhood. Now, not everyone was offended by the sound of the alarm in the early hours of the morning the adults in the area were happy they could wake up early with the help of the alarm, but nobody was as happy as Chinedu, everyday the alarm went off he jumped to his feet, laid his bed, knelt down to say his prayers, then rushed to the bathroom and was out in no time, before long he was on his way to his car, Chinedu was in love with his life, what more could he wish for at the age of 24 he was already a well-to-do man on his own, after graduating from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University,Awka,Nigeria. with Bsc. in Accountancy, he went on to charter in his profession, then within a short period of time he got a lucrative job with an accounting firm which awarded him benefits of the house and car he lived in and used to drive to work respectively. As Chinedu reached the gate attempting to exit the compound he found it locked, he then tried his own spare key on the padlock, as each occupant of the 4 apartments had a key to the padlock on the gate, but to no avail the padlock didn't budge, out of frustration he went to the gateman's door and knocked, "who be that wey dey knock for my door dis early momo, dem send you or wetin, kilode na", was the response he got for his hard knocking, Chinedu then replied him "it looks like you are tired of your job abi Wale", immediately Chinedu spoke Wale rushed out from his room to meet him outside, "oga no vex i dey beg u, i no sabi say na you, i been think say na those evil spirits from my papa village wey don come dey torment me again", Chinedu shook his head, wondering how the gateman had lasted this long in the compound, then he spoke, "why are my keys no longer working in the padlock", the gateman scratched his head as if thinking then he replied; "eeeeehnnnn oga na big madam wey dey stay downstairs ooh she talk say she no fit find her key, so she come change the padlock, i tell am say she suppose inform una first but she talk say that one no be wahala, no vex abeg make i use my own spare key open gate for u", the gateman rushed into his room and brought out a key, immediately he opened the lock, Chinedu rushed for his car, as time was no longer on his side, as he opened the door the gateman interrupted him; "eehen oga person come drop one envelope for you yesterday but u don dey sleep so i no won disturb u for nite, make i bring am come out now", Chinedu just sighed replying; "Wale please when i come back give me the package", the gateman looking confused said; "but oga no be package i talk, na just one big envelope, which package u dey talk about na??", "okay Wale when i come back give me the big envelope, and don't forget to collect my new spare key from that your fat madam", hearing this the gateman burst into a deep round of laughter before he could recover from it, Chinedu had already zoomed off into the cool early morning breeze. "Do you know that there is so much to be enjoyed outside a balcony in the early hours of the morning with the touch of the early morning breeze on one's skin??", the man with the suit and the hat asked, as he stood on the balcony of a famous hotel in the area in the early hours of the morning "well its a pity our friend overhere wont be enjoying that", a feminine voice replied. As at 6:30am to be exact the lifeless body of a man could be seen on the railings of a hotel balcony. "Our friend here must have had a good taste in tea", the man with the hat spoke, breaking the silence in the room, now i regret what i just did, "we could have been friends him and me you know",i like men that have taste in tea........." before he could finish his sentence he was interrupted by a feminine voice with a good looking figure, "am getting bored lets get out of here", "as you wish dear" he replied, as they walked out of the room and down the stairs, the man with the hat spoke again, "remind me to pack an extra suit the next time we're traveling, don't appreciate seeing a reminder of your drooling on my jacket",the woman smiled then replied "thats sweet so u've got me on your mind all this while", "don't flatter yourself my dear" the man with the hat replied her, "so whats the name of our next target", he asked the woman flipped through her phone and replied "he's Mr Okafor Chinedu, i hope he doesn't have taste in tea for both our sakes" they both smiled as they walked into the lonely streets of Lagos in the early hours of the morning, 6:00am to be exact. The body of the deceased would later show the Nigerian Police Homicide's division that he had been first tortured, before being led to the balcony by the killer, then shot at the back of his head, and the force from the bullet pushed him forward until his lifeless body hung on the railings of the hotel balcony. |

The time was just some minutes after 7am, when the sound of helicopter blades could be heard in the environs of a well guarded and decorated area, the helicopter kept on with its whirring as it made its decent slowly to the ground, there were tall trees surrounding the stretch of land and well kept gardens, the presence of armed men in uniform surrounding the premises, could not be omitted, they all stood at attention, with their rifles hung on their shoulders, these men could scare away a lion by mere looking at it eyeball to eyeball, as the helicopter stood to a still on the ground a man being followed by a woman ran towards the parked helicopter, the man not waiting for the helicopter blades to stop spinning opened the door to helicopter then spoke; "Welcome Mr President", the president gave a slow nod in response to the greeting, while they walked towards the presidential villa, he then gave the woman who seemed to be the man's assistant a hand gesture to excuse them, then he spoke "how is the project going, i want this mess cleaned up so we can return to our previous schedule, and remember there must be no loose ends, don't want those agents of yours roaming around this country of mine with that kind of sensitive information in their empty skulls" all through the conversation, the man nodded as the President spoke, then he replied saying "everything is under control Mr. President, and lest i forget sir, your wife called earlier", "tell her am in a meeting" saying this, he immediately left the man's presence and began climbing the stairs entering into the villa, as the man turned to his assistant the President could be seen being escorted up the stairs with two armed men. Signalling to his assistant he requested for his mobile, he knew he had to call his most efficient cleaner team a number he had saved on speed dail 1, with the phone ringing twice a male voice came through from the receivers side; "Morning Mr. Secetary, how can we be of assistance to you today", "get your team ready you're heading to Lagos immediately, all your mission details will be sent to you once you land" the man referred to as Mr. Secetary replied, after his reply he ended the call, and handed his mobile phone back to his assistant, then spoke in a calm voice with the belief that his plan would be a success; "get the car ready", he said, "today's gonna be a very long day for us" At 3rd avenue, 311road the residence of an officer of the law, was having a nice time on his bed alone sleeping, the day before he had just sent a notice of leave to his Captain informing him of his 2weeks absence from work, a holiday was far overdue for him he thought, still on his bed dreaming of how he would spend his leave until at exactly 7:19am the phone of detective Bola rang continuously like an alarm, "who had the evil spirits sent to spoil the sweet dream he was having", he thought to himself, he then finally stretched his hand and picked up his phone answering, "Yes hello" "is that how you greet your superiors", was the reply he got, his superior officer Captain Chukwudalu was on the line, Bola being out of words for one thing hated unexpected calls as it was clearly evident in the way he spoke on the phone, stammering he replied his Captain "mor-morning sir, i wasn't expec-pecting your call" "are you ok detective" Captain Chukwudalu asked Bola getting himself back replied "of course sir", "well thats good to hear detective, because your leave request has been revoked and you are expected at Villa park hotels and suites immediately you just got a new case, the murder of a prominent member of our community, give him my regards when u see his corpse son", saying this the line went dead, what more could the world throw at him that was worse than having his leave revoked, he thought. Well he was in for a treat, if only he had the slightest idea. A van parked outside the the branch office of Paul Auditing Company, located at Ojuelegba,Lagos Nigeria. They had their orders and they were well known for delivering their packages dead or alive, they were known as "The Vipers" and all who lived to tell the tale of their brutality, told it with fear in their eyes. Their main aim at Ojuelegba today was a simple and straight forward mission, which was to take in their target MR. Chinedu, by any means possible, and drop him off at the drop site. "Baba dat our target which time him won take show na??", asked one of the Viper members in the van, "Baba resemble him papa abi, dis won u dey ask am this kind stupid question, no be all of us come here together" one of the boys replied his colleague, "kilode na, na u i ask question??, abeg ooooh make i no use vex swear for you this early momo ooooh", while they kept on exchanging words the person they were referring to as Bbaba was busy grinding a plant he had plucked from his own farm yesterday, a plant popularly known as "weed", "igbo", "indian hemp" and so on as he finished grinding the illegal substance, he stretched his hand, then one of the other men in the van handed him a risla, on receiving it he poured the illegal substance into the risla and began rolling it until it looked like the shape of a Cuban cigar, fat and long, then he called out to the person that asked him the question concerning the arrival of their target, "wehatin be your is your name" he asked "baba my name na Samuel" he replied, "so samuel abi i resemble our targets driver or wetin??," then he continued talking this time more angrily "wetin give u the mind make u dey ask me nonsense question like that or u no chop belle full before you come here??, Samuel kept quiet all through this, Baba looked at his neatly wrapped igbo then continued with his stern voice "two of una get luck say una no make me spoil this my igbo, if not una dead body for dey outside by now", looking at the second person who was making the rukus in the van with samuel he said "and you wetin be your name" "Bolaji, Baba" he replied, Baba looked around as if searching for something he misplaced then he finally spoke "So Samuel you and Bolaji make una comot from this van before i find my lighter finish, i won make una go dey scout the area until you don see our target", they both replied like children who had been spared the wrath of their fathers cane with a hearty and happy tone "ok Baba," as they made their way to the door of the van, Baba called them back saying "una sabi our target abi" they both shook their head in uniformity then he sighed "so how you for take sabi him face na" one of the older members of the gang who had been watching the whole drama shot out "una presence don dey irritate me for here i swear" but surprisingly Baba was calm he gently brought out an envelope from his breast pocket and removed the passport of a young man,he then handed the passport to Samuel saying; "when u see the target report to me immediately and also dispose of our brother that interrupted me while i was talking outside with you" as he finished his sentence he looked at the man who had shot out at samuel, then the man began to beg, but it was too late another Viper member had already brought out a gun aiming for his head, when someone dove into the scene slashing his throat with a pen knife, all the members watched as their fellow member tried aimlessly to hold onto life, as they were watching Baba lit his igbo and dragged it in before spitting on the body of the current ex-member of the Vipers, Samuel and Bolaji immediatly took his lifeless body outside the van and dumped it in the nearby lagoon. Inside the bus with the other members of the gang, were preparing for their mission Baba's right hand man spoke to Baba saying; "but why u go allow those new recruits live after all their ruckus this early momo, come kill our Chuka wey u don sabi for years" Baba kept quiet throughout as he was busy with his Igbo in his mouth, after 5 minutes he then spoke "U won tell me say u no dey see the wings wey Chuka don dey grow abi, i go dey talk him go dey interrupt me, him next plan for don to coup me commot from my seat, those bloody biafrans, wetin be time sef" he asked, "time na 7:45am" his right hand man replied, "abeg give me space make i clear my head before we begin operation" his right hand man left then left his presence to meet with the other gang members,Baba with his igbo in his hands then went into deep thoughts concerning the mission before long he went into a deep slumber before he was brifely woken up by the sound of police sirens in the vicinity. If only they knew that this mission was way over them they would have rejected it, but of course they were "The Fearless Vipers" till death. As Samuel and Bolaji were wandering outside the van on the street leading to their targets office, they watched around looking at every corner of the street if anyone was around the vicinity, their target was clearly a man from the Eastern part of Nigeria popularly known as the ibo ethnic group, samuel who had been staring at the picture for a while, wanting to take every detail to heart, when he was interrupted by his counterpart Bolaji, "Egbon, make i see our target picture na, or u won chop the picture ni or wetin na", "it be like say u chop witch this morning abi, which one be say i won chop him picture na" Samuel replied, handing the picture over to Bolaji he sighed saying "Oya look am well ooooh lucozade" Bolaji held the picture in his hand for a few seconds then he shouted "aaaaah na "omo Ibo" (person of ibo decent) the way i go kill am eeeeehn, Baba go promote me for this gang fast fast......" Samuel immediately cut him short saying "If you won die touch am first, Baba just spare our life's how many minutes ago, u won come put me for another tight corner, you think say i won end up like Chuka, Baba talk say make we report to am when we sight am or u don forget", Bolaji broke into a round of hilarious laughter, Samuel still confused with the reason behind Bolaji's laughter watched him in awe, then Bolaji finally spoke, "na because say na for my hands two of your ibo brothers go see their end you dey vex" Samuel just looked at Bolaji in utter dissapointment then replied him "i be Delta boy, i no be any "omo Ibo" if you like kill 1 million omo ibo today, that one no concern me", leaving the passport in the hands of Bolaji he quietly went to a corner of the road to keep watch, that was when they saw the siren lights of a far away police car, before they could wait for the sound of the siren to reach their ears they dove for cover in the bushes as they watched the police car speedily drive past their gang's van and dissapear into the corner of the street then almost immediately the phone of Samuel rang, "wetin dey happen outside there" a voice no other than that of Baba's could be heard by Samuel, "Omo Baba na one Police car wey just drive past us now now, it don commot the area sha", "u dey sure baba replied immediately" "Bolaji don dey go check am" Samuel replied back to Baba with a smilerk on his face. After a few seconds Samuel called out "Bolaji!!,Bolaji!!, Baba talk say make you go check where that car enter jf dem still dey the area" Bolaji sighing stood up and began walking towards the area where the car departed until Samuel lost sight of him as he made a turn towards a corner in the street. |

There was nothing more important to Chinedu than getting to work he was just around the corner of the road, leading to his office when his mobile phone rang he stooped his car with at least 30 minutes to spare, he picked his call "hello how you doing dear", "am good and you, you've forgotten me abi, Chinedu" immediately he remembered the voice he adjusted his voice, it was his girlfriend of 2years by name Ijeoma, he loved her but he was always busy with work, he barely texted nor called her, but she still kept on trying hard to keep the relationship strong and going, he then replied her; "baby why're you talking like this na, you know i love and cherish you, and am currently missing you, my bosses just buried me in work all through last month, gonna make it up to you this weekend i promise", "so where are we gonna meet??" she asked with her usual ajebutter accent, which often boiled the blood of Chinedu, then she continued "how about we have dinner at one recently opened hotel in Festac.............". As she kept on speaking on the phone something had taken the attention of Chinedu, from his car he could see two hefty men carrying the body of a lifeless person out of a van and heading towards the lagoon, before he lost sight of them, Ijeoma was still talking on the phone when he interrupted her saying "let me call you back later dear i think i just witnessed something horrible" saying that he cut the call and put off his car lights, he kept his sights on the van trying to get the plate numbers, when the two men who had carried the bodies returned to the scene where the van was located, instead of entering inside the van the two men began wandering the street as if in search of something they had lost, when they began to exchange words, At first he thought they were ritualists but until he heard one of them say that he had just killed an ibo man, and was soon to kill another one, was went fear gripped him, what would have made him rush to work on such a day like this, he checked his time it was just 15minutes to 8am, in panic he laid down in his car and entered into serious prayers not long after he heard the sirens come and go, the sitting back up in his car, he couldn't spot any of the men who had earlier been exchanging words, he began thinking hard, his First class certificate in the University came from his head, and that head was sure going to save his life today. With that belief he calmed down and started thinking of an escape plan. Ijeoma the girlfriend of Chinedu wasn't what she sold herself to be, she claimed to be a University graduate from the University of Lagos, but in actual fact that was a mere scam, the fact that she attended the University of Lagos or "UNILAG" as it is popularly known as is not in doubt, but the fact that she graduated from the above stated University is more than a lie. Ijeoma came from the streets of surulere and before she could spell her name she already had all the crooked streets ways at the back of her head, being raised by a single mother who didn't pay much attention to her even worsened her Ijeoma's case. Before she gained admission into the pretigious UNILAG, she had already joined a cult and did all sorts of vices, including smoking of the illegal substance called weed, before long in school she drooped her education before heading to Abuja the Federal Capital Territory to engage in "runs" (another word for prostitution). Not long after her arrival in Abuja her friends started dying of one illness or the other, some where even left dead on the roadsides with either their heads or private parts missing, sometimes even both were taken by the ritualists, with the little money she made in Abuja she raced back to Lagos before she suffered a similar fate to that of her friends. After Chinedu had cut the call in the morning, she began wondering why he would cut the phone on her, that wasn't the Chinedu she met two years ago when she returned to Lagos from Abuja, she was interrupted by the male figure stretching his hands towards her, attempting to cuddle her, but she rejected his advances "Oga you never sleep finish you won come dey disturb me this fine morning wey i dey in deep thoughts, come dey go your house abeg ooooh" the man sat up trying to know what he had done wrong but she yelled the more "you won make i call your wife say u dey Bleep ashawo for outside", at this rate she was sure to wake the neighbours in the area, he stood up from the bed, put on his clothes, picked his car keys then headed for the exit from the apartment. Immediately he left, she sighed "Useless man awoof go kill u one day", while saying this she picked up a leftover igbo she had smoked at the club last night and remained, dragging it in as if she was sucking fuel from someone's car, she then stood up heading to the bathroom talking to her self "hope Chinedu isn't cheating on me, infact let me give him a surprise visit today sef at his office" Villa park was already filled up with onlookers in the early hours of the morning as the lifeless body was viewed by the onlookers, either snapped with their phone's camera or recordered, in this era every man or woman with a camera phone was a potential journalist, and could be the next Linda Ikeji in Nigeria. Not long after, a speeding police car with a wailing siren entered the hotel premises, the officers began dispersing the crowd who wanted to get every angle of the deceased body in their phone, the onlookers were not to blame because, there hanging on the balcony railings was no one other than Mr. Adeleke Adesanya, a young and successful business man and entrepreneur who many believed was on his way to becoming one of the wealthiest men in Africa. The Police officers with the help of the hotel security continued securing the crime scene awaiting the arrival of the homicides detective assigned the case. The Vipers were surely brutal and had the strength to carry out 90% of her contracted jobs, but they were not all that smart, they all were still going to pay with their lifes due to the rukus that both Samuel and Bolaji had made in the early hours of 7am including the body they were seen disposing, they were long exposed before they knew it, with the sniper on the last floor of the auditing firm Chinedu worked in, she could easily pick them out with her sniper rifle, "am in range", she spoke softly to a piece of radio equipment she had in her hand, the man with the hat then replied "cover me, got one of them coming towards my six", "the pleasure is all mine just give the go, and he's gone" she replied with a smile on her face, As Bolaji walked closer up the road he saw a figure in a suit and hat staring at him, he began making sure his gun and pen knife were both intact in his pockets, he brought out the passport that Samuel had given to him and cross-checked with that of the man at his front, but it wasn't a match, the man with the hat then sized Bolaji up, with the conclusion that he was just a low ranking gang member if not he would't be out here about to die at the hands of an "angel of death". Chinedu immediately hit the acceleration of the car and zoomed off towards the direction the police car had taken, with full throttle, but unknown to him, while he was thinking of an escape plan one of the two men had re-appeared but it was too late for him, Chinedu wasn't ready to be killed just for being at the right place at the wrong time, he was so determined that when he saw the face of the man he didn't hit the brakes he just kept on going but the man wasn't as fast as he thought, has he attempted dodging the impact of the incoming car. Chinedu hit him hard and drove on top of his body leaving the man for dead, still at full speed he drifted into the corner of the street that the police had made a turn, "his endless car racing games were actually paying off" he thought, he then saw the second hefty man and the man with the hat, but he couldn't stop now, he was more determined now than ever now that he had just escaped his first obstacle, that he could even drive through his own boss at work, with that determination in his mind, he hit the acceleration of the car this time with all his strength, heading towards the two men. After the call with the Secetary the man who had been called, known by his fellow assains as "Shadow* was an artist in his work, he always delivered as promised, and worked alone, the fact that he worked alone was always claimed to be false by his employers, that he must have had a team to pull all the greatest assasinations in Africa without being caught, but truth be told he was a "Lone Ranger" who had a contract with Death himself. He turned his attention to the gun he had been polishing the night before, loading it to its full mag, he stood up heading to his bathroom, after which he returned with a wooden box, as he opened it, the contents revealed were different International Passports which he used during his missions, as he picked one of the visas and kept it hidden in his trouser pocket, a creaking noise at his door caught his attenion "how can i help you", he asked the intruder, "well you can help me with all your money and jewelries", replied the intruder, who was now clearly in the sight of the man known as Shadow. A great silence filled the room for a brief moment as the men sized each other up for some seconds then shadow spoke "what's your name son??", the intruder lashed out in response "who is your so......." his own anger had been his own undoing because if he had not raised his voice he would have heard the unmistakeable sound of metal against metal, at that moment he was gone, because shadow ran towards him at full speed, the intruder seeing this brought out the concealed gun he had in his coat and attempted firing but it was too late, shadow being faster and good at his work planted the sharp daggers into the head of the intrudder, then he immediately took hold of his gun, and released a round of bullets into his chest, "you could have told me your name" shadow said in a soft voice, as he watched the body of the intruder fall to the surrounding neatly tiled floor of his apartment. After a few minutes he could be heard singing to himself as he left the apartment room with a louis vutton bag, packed up ready for his departure from South Africa to Lagos, Nigeria. "we've got movement in a black........,in a black Toyota Camry............" there was a long pause then the sniper finished her sentence "wow, the car just hit and drove over the body of one of those thugs, and the driver's headed your way, want me slow the car down", "nah let it come to me and my new friend overhere" the man with the hat responded. "Who u dey follow talk", Bolaji asked pointing his gun at the man in the hat, "my good friend or rather my only true friend, so what are you doing here this early in the morning??", the man in the hat asked, "it be like say u dey mad abi" Bolaji replied, pointing the gun now towards the head of the man who was wearing the hat, at that second the sound of a speeding car was heard, prompting both men to look sideways to view the face of the driver, that was when Bolaji remembered the driver's face from the passport, it was their target and he was getting away, as he turned the aim of his gun from the man on the hat to Chinedu, a bullet went through his head, the bullet had come from a pistol the man on the hat had concealed in his breast pocket, then he aimed for the car shooting at it as it drove past at full speed. |
