A nurse has been applauded for breastfeeding a one-month-old child when he couldn't stop crying during surgery.
Li Baoxia, a nurse from Shenzhen city’s Guangming Hospital, in South China’s Guangdong Province, had just finished assisting on a surgery when she heard that there was a baby boy who was crying before an operation.
Doctors preparing for the surgery on the young boy had already administered local anaesthetics, but the child would not stop crying before his crissum abscess surgery.
Baoxia, who is herself a new mum, quickly offered to breastfeed the boy in order to calm him down.
To everyone’s surprise, the child stopped crying and doctors were able to perform the operation successfully.
Zhao Zhengyuan, lead surgeon for the boy’s operation, said he was "very moved" by Baoxia’s contribution to the successful surgery, as he had planned to call off the operation entirely.
The baby’s dad also showed his gratitude to Baoxia following the surgery, as the two were seen shaking hands inside the waiting area after the emotional moment.New dad Wei Wei Li Baoxia called Baoxia "an angel nurse".
