1. A random rapist don't just kill after being raped and robbed.

2. Her Ex(es) is likely to be the assailant but how on earth would he know her itinerary?

My mind says she likely pay a visit to her ex and things got sour, raped her, murder her and dumped her so the ex is most likely staying around that vicinity.

If the assailant is not her ex then he must be a known face to the lady and the assailant has no other means to cover up his track than to murder her.
