How can one decipher the main theme of poems like this.

I was once given a poetry book to review... I went through the poems but couldn't get my head around the main object the poet was addressing. Everything seems abstract. How does one review such a poem? Thanks.

I don't really know how to analyze poems, but there is one truth: the theme of some poems can never really be deciphered correctly. I mean that the themes of some poems can never really be analyzed to equal what the poet had in mind. Read the poem; check for strange words, and whatever you can decipher, write am down. Lol.

One trick: spend time analyzing the devices.
