Applicants of the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship has being advised to be faithful and discreet in their information while filling and applying for the prestigious fellowship in their application form.


The advice was given by Timi Olagunju, a 2015 Mandela Washington Fellow during a #YALI rollout session which held at the ceremonial building of Federal Uuniversity of Agriculture, Abeokuta on Tuesday October 13, 2015.

The interactive session began with attendees introducing themselves and getting inspired by several motivators amongst them who came out to share an inspiring story that got them amazed, before Mr Timi took the lecture to a greater height.

The precinct fellow started the lecture with a note of appreciation to the U.S President; Barrack Obama for giving African’s the chance to improve on their skills and talents with the inauguration of The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, in 2014.

While emphasizing on the need to provide accurate data, the public analyst also stated that “applicants should pay attention to the use of American and good grammatical English and should never go beyond the context of the question, as applicants could get disqualify from the wrong information they provided”.

“When answering questions, use direct and active words and make sure you do not answer the questions you are not asked. - Timi said.

Furthermore, Mr Timi. enjoined youths all over the world to always give back to the society and never push down the ladder that took them up whenever they become successful, noting that they should believe in people’s dreams and projects.

Before ending the interactive session, Mr Timi advised the applicants to get His newly launched book titled - Yes Africa Can: Stories of Mandela Washington Fellows’, which He said will further help in putting justice to all their questions as it covers the Mandela Washington Fellowship application, the YALI Regional Program, and the interview process.
