It ought to start with puberty. Then you realise you're a girl... or a boy and you have sexual organs and all that messed up shit about wanting privacy and personal space kicks in, even as you try to sort a thousand feelings at the same time. Everybody's expecting you to grow up fast, grow up now! Welcome to the club, now you're just another douche bag of raging hormones, walking about, feeling anything but special.
Then you begin to notice your empty head classmate of the opposite sex and you've got to like the opposite sex- yeah- talk about messed up feelings. You'll develop a crush, completely embarrass yourself at school with it and feel you'll never move on.
You'll think up great dreams but still be too lazy to work on them anyways. You'll be too lazy to do your chores, clean your room, go on errands. Sitting in front of the TV seems more right and satisfying.
You'll grow. A lot. Keep grudges, lose friends, make new ones nonetheless, survive through school and graduate.
You'll pick bad habits. Telling lies, stealing. Keeping the wrong companies. Watching porn. Getting addicted to social medias. Getting addicted to every media. Masturbation. Living a double life. And still pretending God is number one in your life.
There'll be this boy, then that boy, and yet another boy. They'll all seem right at first, dream guys like Cinderella's Prince charming. Then there'll be jealousy, cheating, fights, breakups and finally an ex titled ‘once upon a time'.
You'll have your first kiss, second, third, fourth, fifth until you can no longer keep tabs on it, until you no longer feel each one is special or sacred.
You'll move on to the higher institution and the trail of breakups will continue. You'll have sex and soon, you won't be able to keep tabs on that either.
You'll make new friends. Your new found freedom and environment will feel like a tsunami taking you everywhere. Anywhere. And your human weakness will be no match to stand up to it.
You'll go to parties. Drink, get drunk, have one night stands and wake up the next mornings with pretty bad hangovers and a wristwatch and a boxer, properties that are clearly not yours.
From playing dress up in front of your mother's wardrobe to playing dress up in a strip club, in front of men twice your mother's age, the train of one stab after another at your innocence never stops.
You'll lose your innocence without even realising it is going. Shred by shred till every piece is gone. Some days, you'll feel disgusted at yourself, and other days you'll feel great about yourself. But all in all, you knew you'd lose it someday....
