Facebook is testing a new feature that let’s you get real-time sports updates while chatting with Facebook messenger. The company now allows some of Facebook Messenger to subscribe to MLB World Series news, scores and highlights right within a one-on-one chat.  A messenger user, Brandon Painter , who spotted the new feature on Wednesday said that he was chatting with a friend on Messenger about a live game between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals, when he noticed a pop-up that asked if he’d like to receive game updates.  When he subscribed to receive live sports updates in the conversation with his friend, both of them were able to see updates appear in between their messages in real time. This is another way for Facebook to rival Twitter’s offering, but unlike Twitter’s updates that appears only to users privately, the live sports updates feature on Facebook messenger delivers live updates in an ongoing conversation that engages both, and possibly multiple users at once.
