I was moved to tears as I watch "LABE ORUN"-a programme on Lagos TV this evening. Recently a tanker fell in the middle of the night. The tanker driver gallantly gave his life as he moved up and down the street knocking doors for people to get out. He saved many lives but got caught up in the flames himself.
The Okesiji family slept that night full of hope and dreams for the next dawn. It was the dawn that would change their lives forever. The fuel from the fallen tanker found its way into their house. When the explosion occurred minutes later, they were right in the middle of it. The father, six children and other relatives were seriously burnt.
They all survived but due to lack of money for first class treatment, they are now dying one by one.The father and two children are late now.The family is helpless as the hospital is asking for a deposit of N250,000 per head for the remaining victims.
I hereby appeal to Governor Ibikunle Amosun and the entire government of Ogun state to please intervene for this family. Let the state government please step in at this point. This family is scarred forever. The time to intervene is NOW. God bless Nigeria
