Opeexclusive04: That man/woman/family who gave you that car no like you. Hybrid pack for that car could rise above £5,000. That car isn't DIY friendly, na highly competent professional dey handle it. May I burst your bubble, that car may not have battery malfunction but an inverter/generator problem. Sorry sha. |

You might be in luck, usually it is the 12v battery just just borrow one from a car and jumpstart from the terminal in the relay box up front. When it starts then replace the battery near spare tire in the back you can also jump start from the back too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxXL_g4ONrU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=865rivJxl-s a low hybrid battery does not mean the car won't run on engine alone but a dead 12v battery the car won't start you just got a cheap/free good car |

If receiving a boost from another car, make sure the boosting car does NOT have the engine running. This is extremely important, and I can not over stress this point enough. 1 Like |

Opeexclusive04: I know this is a bit old but what did you do about this car? You might be in luck, usually it is the 12v battery just just borrow one from a car and jumpstart from the terminal in the relay box up front. You have to be careful jumping from the front, your Prius has no protection from you reversing the cables and doing N200K worth of damage. I know this sounds dramatic, but the cost of getting it wrong can be very high apart from the inconvenience. Better jump from the trunk were you can see the terminal indications. If you have to jump from the front then I'd just be super careful to get it right: positive cable to positive (aka: red, plus symbol + in the relay box), negative to ground (bare metal on engine, bare bolt or bracket on body). 2 years to leave a hybrid undriven is long, however if the traction battery's state of charge SOC was high when it was last parked ... say 70%, then you may have a chance of it getting started with the jumpstart, else you may have to charge the traction battery pack. i have a charging solution that can get the car back in 24 hours assuming there is nothing else wrong with the car. You have to change the auxillary 12v battery in any case. you can pm me. Mr. Jossy 2007 Prius 1NZ-FXE 2010 Prius 2ZR-FXE |
