NIGERIAN ENGINEERS: A lawyer heading Power sector, Works & Housing. Am imagining a day where an Engineer will be appointed to minister Justice or Health sector. Where are the Engineers? What an insult? When shall we start fighting for our right and proving our professional integrity and ethics? Fashola is a man of integrity, full of knowledge and wisdom. No one is doubting his capability when it comes to project delivery but heading power sector, works and housing is a challenge to the Engineering family. How many equations a lawyer can solve before engaging into Engineering affairs? NSE, NATE, NISET, etc. Does it mean that Nigeria lacks professional (Engineer) that posses all qualities to head Power, Works and Housing ministry? Nigeria, your quest for economic growth will not be possible without Technology. Senior Engineers are sleeping & busy counting their years of experience in practice while younger once are crying for their future. God have mercy, I hope that I haven't make a wrong choice of career...

For the ministry of health it MUST be a medical doctor as stipulated by NMA, For justice MUST be a lawyer by NBA but for NSE, you MUST pay your annual dues

OP. stop thinking with ur anus. No technicalities involved in managing power sector. it only requires application of management principles. stringent policies and due process. Minister will not go and repair or maintain turbines or cables. There are directors and subordinates working with them who know more than any professor in this country. its just to put a system in place for seamless operations. its a political appointment. No engineer in that caucus. If no engineer has risen to the level of becoming a minister in the power sector, its never an insult. Power sector needs people who are good in application of management principles to bring about the change we need. Fashola is a public administrator . he can do the job.

That same lawyer was a governor of Lagos for 8 years. Your point is not salient sir. Works and Power ministry is not Justice Ministry. That same man you called a lawyer heading power and works ministry has great history of what he did when governing Lagos.

Have you forgotten management is not by educational qualification but by experience. It is not by being an " Engineer or Doctor" on paper, it is by knowing what to do.
