A year from now, you may wish you had started today.
Don't care. Or pretend not to. Either ways don't also stare. Their smiles are fake, they're just trying to make you feel their lives are okay ever since you left. And you know this because your smile is fake also. You're just stabbing each other over the distance, throwing blows with really short hands. But don't let the sadness and fear deter you. Just keep pushing yourself on.
Have a pity party. Allow yourself to be comforted in your loneliness. Think of your fails and wins and let the fails influence you over the wins. Cry if you must and tell them you're fine when you are not. Then go home, get drunk and blame whoever is blameable for being happy and living their happy lives when you're getting buried alive in your own grief.
Do something right. Donate to a charity, donate your time, donate your money, donate your blood. Laugh and play with kids. Be totally childish and forget for a moment that you're trying to solve problems that don't even exist. Watch cartoons or ride a bicycle. Do something to while away all your time. Give your parents a call and text that ex. Make up with the world and feel that you're finally on the verge of healing completely. Feel something great is about to happen.
Do something wrong. Bad. Cruel. Rob a bank. Be a fraudster. Or start small- tell a lie, start a rumor. Quit your great job. Date someone nice, make them fall for you completely, then cheat on them and have the guts to admit it without fear while looking them straight in the eyes. Ignore the pangs in your chest that remind you that you could be better and this isn't really who you are. Ignore the fact that the pit you've dug is so deep that you can no longer climb out. Ignore the fact that you need help, you've finally created a problem. And part of you is now in chaos.
Hope. Make wishes. Pray. Visit a cathedral like they do in foreign movies. Go to church and search for heaven's gate. Hand all of your life to something greater and bigger. Meet people. Others like yourself who felt they could do something so different and new, who marched right off the map but only ended up getting lost. Allow yourself to finally get better after feeling like you've lived seven years instead of seven days. Allow yourself to finally be calm.
You should forget your flaws and finally judge, condemn and draw conclusions on someone for once. Forget you can be silly as well as dumb as hell. Forget you were once clueless, once less privileged, once unmotivated. Feel so high no one can reach you. Be unsympathetic, show no empathy.
You should seriously do these if you haven't done it before. Life is too short to keep playing safe. Forget it's all meant to be ironic and reverse psychology. Do take it serious if you've never done these before.
