I'm in my 3rd year in the University..and I'v been able to accumulate 300 thousand Naira all through..

I'v always wanted to own a land, but come to think of it, there is few or no employment out there.. If I eventually acquire a land, what will become of me after my Degree, and if I venture into a Business while in school I might not be able to meet up academically...

And if you ask me to wait till graduation, the money will have found it way on something else even before then!......

I'd advice you get a land since you're still in your third year. The value of the land will certainly appreciate before you graduate which you can then sell and invest with the money.

For me, I'll advice you to invest in treasury bills so you won't squander the money. Though the rate is very low now, but you just have to lock it down in treasury bills to avoid the temptation of spending the money. I was once in your shoe when I was in my final year in school. I invested in t.bills and later used the money to start a business after my service year.

Do the needful to avoid 'had I known'.

I will advise you opt for the Treasury bills or any paper investment NOT real estate.

Land is good like many have said, but trust me, it's not easy to keep land, of that value (N300,000.00), in an appreciable area for more than a year (if your course of study is 4, 5 or more years) without doing anything on it; you wouldn't want to start fighting over land at your tender age. Also, land is not easy to sell as many think; i am into Real estate and i sure know what i am saying.

If you go into Tbills or Money markets and choose income reinvestment option, you should be able to beat inflation. Your money can also be immediately available to you upon graduation for business.

I'm much grateful....but sir, I believe every business/investment has at least a risk....risk on land might be on the genuine ownership or hardship to to resell.....so what is/are the risk(s) behind this Tbill and how does one start? Thanks

U can do both.
A lot of students have done business by the side and made a success of both.
The business u will engage has to be the type fellow students will patronise.
It also require a lot of discipline cos u can no longer spend time on non essentials .
If you can get this going, u will then consolidate during NYSC and improve on it thereafter.

The risk level of Tbills is less than 1%. Of course i know that is also a chance but in reality, except their is War in Nigeria.. And even after the war, the country will still get your money to you.

How do you start? I will suggest you go to any First Bank branch. Open an account with them if you don't already have, deposit the amount you would like to invest, apart from your minimum balance; request for the Tbills form, complete and submit. Then wait.

Note:
1) Any account type can be used for Tbills
2) I have suggested First bank because, they accept as low as N100,000.00 and they also bid for their clients.

You are welcome. Kindly check the last rates on the link i posted earlier. The rates fluctuate. You can only do 3years if you choose to roll over.

So, let's assume you get a rate of 12% for a 364 day tenure (the 364 day tenure isn't always available). That way for the first year your 200k will yield (plus minor charges) 200,000 * .12 = 24,000. The following year, your Principal becomes 224000, so your interest becomes 224,000 * .12 = 26,880.00 (Note that i have assumed that the interest rate will remain at 12%) adding the new interest to your previous principal, you have a new principal which is 250,880. The third year interest, assuming the same rate, would be 250,880 * .12 = 30,105.60. Your final amount would be 280,985.72.

Note:
I have not made any deductions and have also assumed that interest rate will remain at 12% for the entire period.

Invest in US/uk first grade wears since you said you are still a student. You buy in bales and sell in pieces that how you can maje a good gain. You make at least 20k on a bale if you sell to the right people you can make more than that. What you need to do is just to buy the wears students will fall for when they see like polo, dresses for female, blouses and tshirts. That is what students wear mostly.if you won't have the time to sell them, you can employ a school sat h to help you manage and give him/her like 7 to 8k monthly but he/she must be frienly and always be neat o for quick sales of your goods or else.just give it a trial, you will come back and thank me later. For mire info watsapp 08063238801
