Dangote sold his business to Tiger brands in 2012

the decision to change the name was announced in July 2015, long before the MTN saga

It;s only natural for Dangote to resign from the board after the management transition is complete with the name change especially considering his remaining stake is only worth about $6M, a pittance to Dangote and hardly worth his time and effort.

Dangote sold his shares in 2012 for N9.50 a share, today the shares are selling @ N2.40 a share, What Dangote received for 63% of the company in 2012 is 3 times what the entire company is valued at today so shrewd move by Dangote

Dangote scammed Tiger big time on this company.

Now this is someone who knows what he is saying. Dangote scammed them big time and now he's pulling out his people from the board.

Well the bright side is, Tiger Brand has successfully gained its entry into Nigerian market and the stock exchange.

According to Reuters, Tiger Brands has not made money from Dangote Flour Mills (DFM) since paying nearly $200 million for a 65 percent stake in the firm back in 2012. Though DFM is named after Dangote, his group’s equity stake in the firm is only 10 percent. Anthony Geard, an industry analyst with Investec Securities, said “without Tiger Brands injecting money, it is the end of the line for DFM”. Dangote Group is investing heavily in the African cement industry, with a plan to build production factories in 18 African countries and Nepal. Tiger Brands has large equity stakes in leading Nigerian companies including Deli Foods and UAC Foods.
