There are 4 dozens of oranges on the floor. Amaka takes 2 oranges; Cynthia takes 6 oranges; John takes one, divides it into halves and drops the other half; Bukola takes 5 oranges; Amina takes just one. As we are about to go, Bukola returns one while Amaka takes a dozen. How many oranges are left on the floor? PS: Also explain how you got your answer (optional). |

Ans: Mathematically, 22.5 oranges left on the floor. But logically, I would say only 22 oranges left. Soln: Total initial oranges =4 dozens =4x12 =48 Amaka takes 2 oranges =48-2=46 oranges left Cynthia takes 6 oranges =46-6 =40 oranges left John takes 1/2 orange =40-1/2 =39.5 0ranges left Bukola takes 5 oranges = 39.5-5=34.5 oranges left Amina takes 1 orange =34.5-1= 33.5 oranges left Bukola returns 1 orange =33.5 +1= 34.5 oranges left Amaka takes a dozen =34.5-12 =22.5 oranges left |
