What It Actually Means To Be An Entrepreneur And Its Relationship With Entrepren by Michozil(m): 10:45pm On Nov 20, 2015
What is the relationship between entrepreneur
and entrepreneurship?
The concept of entrepreneurship has a wide
range of meanings. In a nutshell,
entrepreneurship is creating something while
entrepreneur is the owner of the business
created.
Having known the definition of who an
entrepreneur is and its relationship with
entrepreneurship, I’m going to explain to you
what it actually means to be an entrepreneur this
21st century. Ever since I was young, I’ve
actually never ever wanted to dress in suit and
tie every morning all in the name of going to
work. Now that I’m grown and with some level of
maturity, I’m in college and would soon face the
real world and the labor market, I would still
keep that dream alive. But you might as why?
Here’s why,
An entrepreneur is a starter
Being an entrepreneur makes
you the drive of your dreams and
success
Being an entrepreneur gives
you this sense of responsibility and
accountability
Entrepreneurship isn’t all about
financial freedom;
Many at times we clamor for wanting to be an
entrepreneur just because we are too lazy to get
up from bed by 5am in the morning and get set
for your white collar job or you’re probably tired
of getting yelled at by your boss or even thinking
that once you get on board the entrepreneurship
train you start earning fast and much more than
your former paid job.
Well I’m not saying that they are all bad reasons
in total for wanting to be an entrepreneur, but
being an entrepreneur is very much more than
the above reasons listed above. We tend to
associate entrepreneurship with direct financial
benefits and risk, but it’s actually different when
that entrepreneur has equity in the company, he
or she is exposed to financial upsides and
downturns. This is the part that brings us to
corporate entrepreneurship. But that might just
be a blog post for another day.
Types of entrepreneurs
Amongst many, the major types of entrepreneurs
include;
I. Social entrepreneurs II.
Serial entrepreneurs III. Lifestyle
entrepreneurs
Social entrepreneur
You are a social entrepreneur when you pursue
innovative solutions to social problems. A social
entrepreneur adopts a style, technique, model
which he or she can use in creating and
maintaining good and healthy social values.
Social entrepreneurs are most of the times
motivated to improve socio-economic well-being,
educational well-being, environmental and health
well-being of the individuals they can reach.
Most social entrepreneurs engage themselves in
non-profit activities and are overwhelmed by
great social responsibilities. Examples of great
social entrepreneurs are Bill Clinton, Florence
Nightingale and Dr. Abraham .M. GeorgeGeorge
