The Rogue. by joseph1832(m): 8:09am On Nov 25, 2015
A rogue he is, yes he is a rogue.
He craves for wealth just like a lion crave for meat.
He embarks on his imperialist quest
Aided by nepotism and capitalism.
He spreads abstracts and deceit to foster his zeal.

He cares not whose ox is gnawed,
He carries not weapons but weapons it is he carries.
He believes abstract and lobotomy are his closest friends.
He uses oratory and eloquence to sway the congregation.
A demagogue he is, indeed he is a demagogue.

The rogue seeks not to save but to swerve.
He seeks to swerve so he can nerve.
He seeks to nerve so he can carve.
He seeks to carve so he can acquire.
He seeks to acquire so he can possess.
He seeks to possess that which he desire.
For he desires that which all men require.

He speaks he speaks, yes he speaks.
The crowd the crowd they listen, yes they listen.
They listen not to what the rogue says,
But pay attention to his charisma and manner,
They crave for things they can neither see nor touch,
They touch not the rogue for fear of being cursed,
They curse those who curse the rogue,
They model themselves to look like the rogue
For the rogue is like a god to them.

The rogue is a rogue because his imperialistic
Desires can never be quenched!
A religious bourgeois comprador he is,
Yes a religious bourgeois comprador he truly is.
He wears this with joy and pride and smile;
For every Sunday his pocket grows fatter than his ego.
A rogue he is; yes indeed, he is a rogue.

ANALYSIS OF THE POEM

PLOT OF THE POEM: The poem focus explicitly on members of the clergy who graciously enrich themselves using the gullibility of Nigerians, aided by the word of God which is often time twisted by them to suit their purpose.

This particular set of clergymen are seen and known to own businesses that amount to millions of dollars, as well as even owning fleet of private jets.

The poem also question and criticize this particular set of clergymen as there appear not to be any relationship between spreading the word of God and being entrepreneurs because Jesus and his disciples, even the apostle Paul were not known to own businesses, neither did they live a life of tremendous affluence while their flock live in poverty and squalor.
