A two-year old baby, whose name was given simply as Samuel was severely injured as two suspected robbers attempted to snatch his mother’s handbag at Salami Bus Stop in the Shasha area of Lagos on Saturday, 21 November at about 8.00pm.

The two suspected robbers identified as Olalekan Durojaiye, 20, and Femi Kromoga, 27, are already cooling off in police net for their attempt rob one Mrs. Mary Nwafor, mother of the injured Baby Samuel and dispossess her of her handbag.

Report has it that the duo of Durojaiye and Kromoga threw the baby on the ground at the Salami Bus Stop as his mother resisted the attempt of the suspected robbers to dispossess her of her handbag, thus inflicting a grievous injury on the baby.

The suspected robbers are said to belong to a gang that uses motor cycle to terrorize residents of the area and rob them of valuables.
Mrs. Nwafor said she was returning from work that Saturday evening with her baby and was waiting for a bus to convey her home when the robbers struck.

According to her, the robbers who were on a motor cycle stopped in front of her at the bus stop and reached for her handbag. When she refused to let go of the handbag, the robbers snatched her baby and dashed him on the ground, leaving her with no option than to let go of her bag in order to save her baby.

The robbers then sped off with the handbag as she shouted for help. The robbers were chased and rounded up by an angry mob, who had given them a hot chase. They were given the beating of their lives before being handed over to the police.

Samuel has been taken to hospital for treatment, while Durojaiye and Kromoga have been arraigned at Shasha Magistrate Court on two count charge of stealing and causing grievous harm.
