Who taught you to hate your dark skin?

With all the rush to be really beautiful, cream and classy, women in Nigeria and Africa want to stand out in clothing and in skin tone. Until recently, men have joined the race to look really good and thereby lured by skin lighting manufacturers , that the fastest means and only way is skin lightning . The problem with the race for social relevance is it goes beyond good clothes but also skin deep.

If you do a quick survey around the web, there are much more people who want to look lighter than those who are willing to remain dark or true to their natural complexion. That as we all know, is due to that forced  psychology that a lighter toned person is much more beautiful and attractive. It's even more disheartening to know that some dark people are absolutely not okay with being reffered to as black. This is a dangerous form of ignorance.

Let's  educate you why you should remain dark skinned and the many benefits that come with it.

First of all:

As a dark skinned individual, you shouldn't neglect your skin just because you're dark and  any skin care product  would do the magic of keeping your skin maintained, get good skin care products that would keep your skin healthy without blemish. There are totally gorgeous and magnificent dark skinned women who stand out in the presence of their fairer toned counterparts because their skin succulently blooms and is supple to the touch.

Your Dark skin would always remain less expensive to maintain and would always look even and fresh. A light skinned person always has to worry about the weather and also what type of skin care product  they should avoid so as to prevent making their skin look uneven on the long run.

This article isn't for comparative purpose but to make you appreciate your dark skin better.

Your skin is dark because it is dark. Yes your eyes are brighter and your lovely set of teeth is whiter and that's what's is strikingly sexy and first noticeable about a dark skinned individual who "maintains" their skin. All other bodily features stand out perfectly.

As an African, no other race can wear your traditional attire to fit better with your skin. It's just all natural and a light toned person would never be able to match up to a native attire no matter how it is cut to fit by the tailor. Dark skins models  look spectacular in native attires and they can't be totally left out when showcasing various western attires due to a dark skin unique blend with bold and strong colored  clothings.

The health benefits of having a dark skin is priceless. For the shortsighted and ignorant, the quest to be  socially adequate rules over health. As a dark skinned person, you have total protection from the sun's wrath while chemically abused skins  run for cover. You are totally free from skin damage as a dark individual.

Dark skins individuals age slower, significantly slower especially if their skins are not neglected or abused. Exposure to the sun also has a reputation to cause adverse premature aging and the pace of the aging even increases   in those who have abused their skin.

Darker skinned individuals also have a very low risk of having skin health defects, acnes scars are far  less obvious and skin cancer is of low probability. Also insect bites and bacterial infections are far less severe in dark skinned people.

Do not be deceived. Skin tone bias would always have a place in society but there is more you can do. While people worry about their skin you worry about how much knowledge you can accumulate as an African by becoming learned and educated. Presidents Barrack Obama's father was a very dark man who schooled in America and was also a victim of prejudice and racial abuse. He didn't whine away as inferior like he was expected to but instead stood his ground and educated his abusers on what it meant to be African and at the end his abuser "a white man" gave Obama Snr $100 which was a valuable sum then.

The black man has more time to educate himself and become learned so as to stand out in anypart of the world he finds himself while others worry about skin color.

It's very annoying when I still see people wanting to look white. I think it's a mental problem
