LAGBUS drivers are worse than Molue drivers. Very reckless.

Thank God they are not allowed to pass through new BRT bus corridors along Ikorodu.

The excesses of this LAGBUS drivers needs to be seriously checked.

These BRT drivers believe they re above other road users nd resort to reckless driving because they know the security men nd government will always favour them.

Secondly, some parents nd guardians needs to learn, you don't walk on the pedestrian path exposing the child to the traffic, the child should walk on the inner path while you act as a shield nd u don't walk backing the traffic.

As an adult u will know when u have ventured outside the walk path nd fast to respond to emergency.

RIP to the young angel.

. Nothing breaks my heart more than the preventable death of an innocent child full of dreams. I cannot imagine how heart broken the parents would be not to hear her sweet voice and see her again. Only God can comfort them and replace her which He can actually do, because I heard of a case where a couple lost their child and when they had another child, the child looked exactly like the one they lost and when the child started speaking, the child recalled some experiences of the past before the child was born. That was how the parents were comforted. God can bring her back if they ask him. The mother will give birth to her again. She has to fulfill her destiny on earth. She will return. But she will only return to them if she loved them.

An angry mob vandalised a mass transit bus (LAGBUS) belonging to the LAGBUS Assets Management Limited for allegedly crushing a five-year-old girl to death, and injuring another pedestrian.The incident occured at the Otto bus stop, in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State .

PUNCH Metro learnt that the mob, which smashed the side glasses of the BRT and damaged the front windscreen with stones.

It was gathered that at about 12pm on Friday, a woman and the schoolgirl, whose name had yet to be known, were walking on the pedestrian side of the Oyingbo-Otto Road, when the LAGBUS driver hit them.




The five-year-old’s legs were said to have been smashed, while another male pedestrian, said to be an okada (motorcycle) rider, was injured.The girl was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.

A police source told PUNCH Metro that the driver fled immediately he heard that the victim died in
the hospital. He added that some of the youths wanted to set the bus ablaze, but were stopped by the police.

He said,

“It was at about 12.30pm on Friday. The woman was the mother of the girl, and they were returning from the school. The LAGBUS hit them at the junction and also hit an okada rider. The police got information that there was commotion in the area, and that some youths might resort to violence, so we moved in and the bus was towed away. The driver is at large.”
At the scene of the accident, PUNCH Metro gathered that the okada rider had hit his head on the ground and bled for a while before he was stabilised by Good Samaritans.

A bus driver, who gave his name only as Wasiu, and claimed to be an eyewitness, said the LAGBUS driver disappeared when he got to know that the girl had died.

“The girl was about five years old. She was being taken home by her mother. We do not know her name. The bus hit them at the pedestrian side. The girl was badly injured. The driver of the LAGBUS initially came down and helped in rushing the girl to a hospital. It was in that process that some youths vandalised the bus. It was when the driver learnt that the girl had died that he fled.
“The other man was bleeding all over. He would have died too, but for the first aid given by the people staying around the scene.”

The child would have survived if the mother had been more road safety conscious, because the vehicle would have hit her mother first if she protected her child whilst on the street. When walking on the street or road with a child, you should shield the child from traffic by holding the child firmly by your side away from the roadside. But I see many parents and guardians on the street with children they don't know how to guard and guide while walking on the street or roadside. Careless parents let their kids walk ahead of them or even behind them. Some wicked parents and goardians even drag the kids who are tired to walk. I have seen a tired kid sleep walking as the mother was dragging her on the street and I shouted at the wicked mother to carry her. Some other silly parents cross the dangerous express roads with their kids instead of using the foot bridges. Children learn by example. So, the day the parents are not with them, they will run the risks of crossing the dangerous express roads. Our churches, mosques, schools and community meetings should teach road safety rules to parents of innocent children. Some parents even leave their kids in the care of housemaids who don't even know how to cross or walk on the streets. If the mother had benn more careful and road safety conscious, her child would not have been crushed by the bus. We must keep and protect our children from dangers indoors and outdoors. Never ever leave your children alone anywhere. No job is more important than any child. If you cannot protect and provide for children, PLEASE, don't bring them into this dangerous world to risk their lives. No child asked to be born to suffer on earth.
