A commercial bike (popularly known as ‘Okada’) rider was today afternoon killed after his okada was hit by a trailer just before Ocean Crest School, Abayomi Durosinmi-Etti Street, New Market Road, along the Lekki Alternative Route, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

According to an eyewitness, the trailer was coming from behind the okada, and the okada man slowed down for the trailer to pass, but the okada was unfortunately hit by the careless trailer driver.

The okada driver was said to have died instantly. The trailer driver, according to eyewitnesses, parked his vehicle and ran away. He was however apprehended by fellow okada drivers around.

A police officer, who was quick to be at the scene, calmed the angry mob ( mostly okada riders) which was gradually gathering, before he was joined by other officers and the body of the deceased was moved from the scene.

Touching stories by eyewitnesses also revealed that the victim just bought the new bike three days ago.

Meanwhile, a man was also on Wednesday killed on the same road and very close to this spot by a car. The man was hit by a vehicle which came to pick up some kids from Ocean Crest School. Watch the video from that incident below:
