see you guys dreaming about PR as a means to get to europe, una no dey read or listen to BBC? what Im trying to say is SA passport Holders are no longer VISA FREE to countries like UK, you now have to do what we do in Nigeria to come to the UK from SA,ie you are now a VISA National and Im very sure the rest of the Eu will soon follow suit,Im warning you now leave SA,cos PR is the realy and only true gain from living in SA
Re: Life In South Africa by goodguy100(m): 4:17pm On Jul 04, 2009

Re: Life In South Africa by 14(m): 3:24am On Aug 01, 2009
Dont wanna givr the wrong ideas now. Not any more would you travel to UK with SA passports only. you have to hastle for VISA my man. Thanks to you guys, you really messed it up. UK realizes that there were too many SA ID holder who were not originally from SA. They realise that there is a corrupt activitivies going on. then they introduces a lwa that would require an SA citizen to apply for VISA. Many Europian countries will follow suit, watch the space.

I think 1,2 the problem is our home affaires officials who are corrupt,I think we should also scrap this law that allows everyone who marries a South African to automatically qualify for citizenship, because peoples Identity documents are stolen and are married without their consent. And most of the people who do this and travel to UK with SA passports are Pakistanis and Nigerians.Hope the goverment is doing something about this.
I know Zuma will do something, unlike Mbeki who was raised in exile,he felt he owed everybody something,Zuma owes nobody a dime, and will chase all this illigal people who are tarnishing our country's image.

I advocate for xenophobia on the Indians and Pakistani's.

Mzanzi! Who's with me!

Next time you people should go burn down the Indian embassy

With their population size compared to Nigerians which is about 1000:1 they don kill una for SA tire, not to talk of Chinese.

But of of course again the Nigerians/Africans will bear the full brunt of xenophobia.

EAZY TARGETS!! don't you think.

First let me say, nobody hate Nigerians or other Africans(which include South Africans, white and black),people hate criminals, irrespective of where they come from.Pakistani because of this Passport fraud are not people favourates at this moment, but then again we have large SA Indian communities which has been in this country for more than 200years,that is why Durban is known as the home of Indians and Zulus,so people cannot differentiate between Pakistani and SA indian.
And also most of this attacks happened in the most poorest areared. And beside I dont think there was one Nigerian attacked during those clashes. You people just like attentions.

I think you don't know what you're talking about,Nigerians where never affected and if people hate Nigerians its because of their criminal activities, nothing more nothing less.Majority of poor people knows nothing about Nigeria. But what they know is Nigerians in SA are criminals and fraudsters,I guess you people send all your bad people to us,cause I know that most Nigerians in Nigeria and across the world are honest and hard working
Re: Life In South Africa by 14(m): 11:47am On Aug 06, 2009
True that RSA. There are too many Foreigners in SA who are living a desent life. They will not dare leave the country. the Incident that happened last year was poor on poor. South African poor were fighting their Foreigners poor. most of the people who were affected were mostly Mozambican and Zimbabweans. most of the people who come from this countries, they leave among Poor South African. The problem started when SA citizens blamed the foreigners for the escalaiting crime and jobs. Most foreigners would ask for lower pay when looking for job, then they tend to get a job since they are paid penuts. SA citizens dont want to work for penuts. Then the foreigners ended up getting jobs than locals because of their cheap labour. The locals were not favored by the employers because they asked for a large amount, whereas a foreigner would only ask for 50% less.

This did not go down well with the locals, then they took to the street voicing their anger and frustration. i dont support the way they conducted themselves, it is not the right way to resolve conflict. people who commited those crimes must rot in jail for the rest of their life. There was not even a single Nigerian killed because most of Nigerians leave in the City Centres across South Africa. did you know that there are 10 millions foreigners in SA, 4 millions of them are Zimbabweans, mind you that Zimbabwean population is only 12 Millions. Which means there is only 8 Millions left in Zimbabwe.

i would say life is generally good in SA than most of other African Countries by far. Life its even better than some of the Eastern Europian countries. Did you know that South African Ecomony is even bigger than that of Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Yougoslavia, Slovakia and etc. Then if you leave in the South, you probably livinga better life than some people in the eastern block.

What you just explained above is called the beginnings of a Socialist state. Not that its a bad thing depending on what the majority rule dictates, only that you will tamper with the concepts of free market system which is at odds with some of your mind sets.

It is not the governments responsibility to transform unskilled workers into skilled workers nor increase their wages by 12% or continue to provide free RDP housing for its populous while they sit idle all day, its responsibilities include creating the enviroment that promotes and renders  incentives to free thinkers who will use these means to uplift the country.  Please see the documentry below and understand the concept of entreprneurship.

Mr Mo,SA have a unique situation which calls for a special intervention, you know the history of the country.South Africans, poor people who everybody is quick to point out that they are lazy builded this country with their bare hands without being paid nor acknowledged.Whites put them in places where they have to spend fortune to get to work, yet they earned less.

The black goverment had to give or try to give them their dignity back, but as you know that you cannot undo 200 years in 15 years, the goverment is using housing, social grants and other ways to uplift poor people spirits. All this are just short term solution for a special situation. The most important thing is the next generation, the goverment is investing heavely on education,it's not a quick solution but a long term thing.Honestly I am happy with what the ANC is doing, they've done what lot of thought was impossible.Yes we have problems, crisis but the future looks bright.I have lived in SA during the aapartheid years and now and I know what Iam saying when I say SA is doing well and can only get better.

Mr Mo unfortunetly there is no country in Africa that we can all look up to,and SA has to find his way on his own.

Historically speaking SA can borrow some of its ideas from the USA which comes closet in historical similarities with the country only in reverse order.

USA - White majority Black minority
SA - Black majority White minority

USA- highest concentration of wealth in the hands of a few(White)
SA_ highest concentration of wealth in the hands of a few (white)

USA_btw 1988-present growng black middle class
SA _ Btw 1994 - present growind black middle class

USA-Repulican _Pro Capitalist party
Democrats_Pro Socialist party

SA -ANC- Pro socialist party
DA _ Pro nationalist/ capitalist party

USA_Affirmative action
SA _Black empowerment movement

While I credit the ANC for speeding up the process in an effort to uplift the poor and disadvantaged by these schemes I differ in its methodology and the possible long term out comes.

Ghana is another country that SA can borrow a leaf form in terms of a social culture which is proving to be concrete stepping stone towards the prosperity of that country.

I recently did some research on them an am very enthusiastic about the progress they are building.

Hi all,
I leave for Johannesburg tonight. Hoping to attend the shopping festival there. But all these stories I'm reading on this thread dey fear me small small o. Hoping to stay with a friend in the suburbs but I still might decide on hotel last last. Can I safely roll and solo, abi do I need a guide when shopping? Another thing I've heard is that buses are dangerous and it's much safer to use cabs. As an awon boy, I should fear no one but I need to preserve my neck.
Grateful for any tips.
