Lawyers should Never ask an elderly woman to be a witness in court if they are not prepared for the answer.
In a trial in a southern small town in lagos the prosecuting lawyer called a grandmotherly elderly woman to the witness box and asks her , alhaja Balogun do u know me??....
she responded,why? Yes i do know you Mr Uche . I have known you since you were a boy,and frankly speaking you have been a big dissapointment to me. You lie ,you cheat on your wife,you manipulate people and talk about them behind there backs. You think you are a big lawyer,when you dont have the brain to realise that you would never amount to nothing more than a petty no good doing charge and bail lawyer,yes i know you.
The lawyer was stunned not knowing what else to do,he pointed across the room and asked, alhaja balogun do u know the defence attorney also
She again replied,why Yes i do... I have known Mr danjuma since he was a youngster,he is lazy,bigoted and he as a drinking problem,he cant build a relationship with any one,and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with 3 women one of which is your wife,yes i know him.
The defense attorney nearly fainted. The judge asked both lawyers to approach him and in a very low voice said.
If either of you two idiots asks her if she knows me,i would make sure i send you both to death by firing squad with no chance of appeal!!!
