As students found between the four walls of a university, one meets new people everyday.Whether to get info on assignment dates, deadlines, course materials or just to meet people to bond with and share your views and dreams with, there is the never ending need to meet new people. Due to the struggle for good grades everyday, many students never make good use of social events to meet new people. It is no news that it is what you know, how well you can apply it and WHO YOU KNOW that determines how far you can go in life .
It’s a great disaster if you graduate from the university without a strong network of contacts who would be of immense help to you if you needed assistance in any field. If you needed legal help for instance and you studied Geography but you know only Geographers, what would you do?Or a tech guru, writer, computer analyst, graphic designer? It would be much easier for a student with these contacts to get what he/she needs.
You need to get a pen and paper and write down the contacts of people who are:
1.Graphic designers
2.Dancers
3.Singers
4.Writers
5.Athletes e.g basketball and football players e.t.c.
6.I.T Gurus/Computer analysts
7.Fashion Designers
8.Photographers
9.Make-up artists and other people in other relevant fields whose assistance you might need.
After trying to compile this list, you might get a few surprises. You get to realize who you know and who you don’t know. If you don’t have the contacts of these people, get them. You especially need them before you graduate. If you don’t know how to, here are a few guidelines on how to.
1.Attend social events e.g seminars, conferences, shows e.t.c. You get to meet new friends. Get new ideas. Make new partnerships.
2. Change your regular spots. Go to a new church on a Sunday, change your relaxation spots, go to public places like malls. In places like this, you get to meet new people.
3.Go to places in your school where students convene e.g faculty lounges, libraries, parks e.t.c. You meet a lot of incredible individuals in places like this.
Sitting in your room all day does not help matters at all. The triangular life has destroyed many individuals. It is a very bad thing when you pass through the university with no memories whatsoever but regrets. Enjoy your university life while you can.
