Baba siana abeg help me i bought a volkswagen passat from this forum. The passat is carrying an audi a4 engine my problem is clucth. The conversion i just cant explain. The bottom is 2.0 while the top is 1.8 engine the clucth just keep failing

Its vw passat 2005 model dat the engine was changed to audi a4. The clucth failed and i was told to buy aa new upper clucth which i did. The mechanic fixing it said i should buy a clucth cable i did. Nw after fixing it worked for only an hour nd it refused to enter gear. But i noticed if the engine is off and u clucth down it would enter gear. You should have known you would be spending some time and money trying to get it road worthy.

You need to do a complete audit of that car. Get a good mechanic who understands how to work on VW manual transmission issues. Be ready to spend money and change parts.

Manual transmission is easy to work on and I suspect the first part you should change is your mechanic. He should be able to troubleshoot it easily.

I remember the car....hmmm from cityhood, someone said then that how come the passat was carrying a golf 3 engine. it is well oh!

I did not oo. It was certified by 3 mechanics, i even drove it down my self from kaduna. The challange is the clucth hose leading to the down clucth has diffrent ends. So u have to find a way round it so it could fit in.

U bought a car in December 2015 and in January 2016 its already giving u headache! May God help us with the kan of cars people put up for sale! I hope u are able to solve the problem without spending much!

My beef exactly! the air intake and coolant reservoir have extremely awkward positions, in my opinion. But then I've never seen the 1.8 without that plasticky cover before, so I stand to be corrected.

Anyways, glad to know you've got the clutch fixed though, Op. I wish you many happy years of motoring with your Passat.
