Zoom, zoom, zoom
The bike man his engine revved
to the gleeful delight
of the teeming youths
hanging around the streets
waiting for the green
from JAMB before life’s
fated journey can commence.

The bike man rightly tagged-
“ the self proclaimed
lord of the streets” .
Speeding, dodging, swagging-he got them all.
Rebuke him not
for he will not hear;
prone only to remind you
of his immortality
guaranteed by a delusion
of the mind defined by
the deadly cocktail -
ignorance and lots of local gin.

Miles and miles
of the busy expressway
at the mercy of the bike man
I simply could not fathom.
The appointment so urgent
The harbinger of death might be.
