Nairaland, A friend needs your counsel. Lawyers in the house, your comments are specially solicited.

She is from a west African country and schools in a federal university in the south west. (Details hidden for obvious reasons). Her mum is from Nigeria, she herself was born in Nigeria too, but used her Dad's nationality in all of her documents (Jamb, waec etc).

Everything has been great until this session the school told her to pay $5,000 has a foreign student. This is her 5th and final year.

$1=N300. That's N1,500,000. Her parents can't afford that.

Please advice!


Points:
1. Legally speaking;Why wasn't it mention at freshman year?
2. Can her mom being a Nigeria help in anyway.
