How Does One Go From A Copy And Paste Programmer To Writing Your Own Code by Nobody: 4:44pm On Jan 22, 2016 |
Do all programmers copy and paste code? Is it a bad practise? http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/36978/do-most-programmers-copy-and-paste-code How does one move from a copy and pasting programmer to a very good programmer that writes his/her own codes? https://www.nairaland.com/712536/copy-paste-programmer Can a programmer who is very good in Data Structure and Algorithms, be a copy and pasting programmer? Would love to hear from programmers in the house. Thanks |

GetAvenue: The practice isn't bad, unless the programmer is not qualified to fully critique the code. If the programmer is looking for "magic bullet" code, then the magic code will be in control of them, rather than the other way round. I copy and paste to save time typing, not to save time understanding code. Sometimes, typing out new ways of doing things, rather than copy and pasting, helps you to remember it better (provided you are a touch typist, and not two finger joe). GetAvenue: A copy and paste programmer is not a programmer, I'm afraid. If all they do is copy and paste, then they are a programmer's secretary. GetAvenue: So long as they only copy and paste what they fully understand, and could program themselves with relative ease. Best only to copy and paste when to do otherwise would simply be a typing exercise. If there is more to it than typing, think carefully before you cut and paste. 1 Like |

The best way to learn to code is to Type Code. Mind you, copying and paste will not help any programmer at all. What makes you a programmer?? Your ability to write computer codes.............. |

GetAvenue: He means to engage in actual programming by typing and not copy and paste. |

Even if you want to copy and paste code you need to understand the concept of programming, but there are some concept you can't copy and paste Just imagine you trying to copy and paste an AI algorithm you don't understands, although it might work perfectly modifying it to your taste will prove more difficult than you think Regards' Habeeb Salam 2 Likes 1 Share |
