Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho has definitely been one of the revelations of this premier league season, the 19-year-old Nigerian has now scored eight times this season and Pellegrini says the performance of Iheanacho justified his decision to allow strikers Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic to leave the club at the start of the season without buying prescribed replacements.

Iheanacho scored three and set up a fourth for Raheem Sterling as City easily beat Villa to secure a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup in the absence of Sergio Aguero, pushing claims for his inclusion in the Champions league squad of ‘The Citizens’.

He was not included in City’s Champions League squad at the start of the season and Pellegrini now faces an awkward decision over whether to add him to his 25-man European squad. The Chilean would have to omit a senior player with Samir Nasri, Wilfred Bony and Kevin De Bruyne not looking like they would be back from injuries until late March at the earliest.

Manuel Pellegrini has now hinted on the need to include the Nigerian in his Champions league squad as the competition resumes in February not necessarily because he has been in good form, but because Pellegrini admits he is in need of a striker and he is not looking beyond the most valuable player at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013.
