GUIDELINES FOR THE 2016 BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (BECE) REGISTRATION

A. COMPLETION OF ENTRY SCHEDULE AND SUBJECT ANALYSIS FORM


1. ENTRY SCHEDULE
a. Enclosed are the entry schedules for 2016 BECE. Enter candidates’ names with the surname first. Subjects offered by each candidate should be ticked in the appropriate spaces. Indicate the sex of the candidate by writing M for Male or F for Female.
b. Indicate blind candidates in the appropriate column.
c. The total for each subject should be entered in the appropriate space on the entry schedule. Note that any error in computing totals for the various subjects will affect the quantity of examination materials to be packed for your School.
d. The entry schedule is carbonized in triplicate. The original copy of the completed entry schedule must be sent to NECO Headquarters, Minna while the duplicate copy is to be submitted to NECO Office in the State. The triplicate copy is to be retained by the School.
e. Schools should not use their NECO SSCE or WAEC SSCE number for BECE.

2. SUBJECT ANALYSIS FORM
The total number of candidates for each subject registered should be computed and entered in the appropriate column. Ensure that the form is error free. In case of Nigerian Languages, write the subject and either L1 (mother tongue) or L2 (for beginners) in front of it. The subject analysis form is to be completed in duplicate.
B. NUMBER OF SUBJECTS TO BE REGISTERED
Each candidate shall register a minimum of 13 (thirteen) and a maximum of 15 (fifteen) subjects according to the grouping of subjects below br /> (a) GROUP A: CORE SUBJECTS
(i) English Studies
(ii) Mathematics
(iii) Basic Science
(iv) Basic Technology
(v) Social Studies
(vi) Civic Education
(vii) Creative and Cultural Arts
(viii) Computer Studies
(ix) Physical and Health Education
(x) French
(xi) Hausa L1, Igbo L1, Yoruba L1
(xii) Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies
(b) GROUP B: ELECTIVE SUBJECTS
(i) Agricultural Science
(ii) Business Studies
(iii) Home Economics
(iv) Edo
(v) Efik

(vi) Ibibio
(vii) Arabic
(viii) Hausa L2, Igbo L2, Yoruba L2
At least one subject should be registered from group B.
(c) OTHER REQUIREMENTS
(i) Typewriting is a compulsory component of Business Studies.
(ii) Technical Drawing is a compulsory component of Basic Technology.
(iii) Practical computer is a compulsory component of Computer Studies.
C. REGISTRATION FEE
Registration fee for the 2016 BECE is N6,000.00 (Six Thousand Naira) only per candidate.
D. SUBMISSION OF ENTRY SCHEDULE, SUBJECT ANALYSIS FORMS AND PURCHASE OF ON-LINE REGISTRATION CARDS
(i) Two copies of the entry schedule and two copies of subject analysis forms and the evidence of appropriate fee should be submitted to respective NECO State Officer on or before Monday 15th February, 2016. All payment should be made into NECO Treasury Single Account (TSA) from any of the Commercial Banks.
(ii) The State Officer shall send one copy of original Entry Schedule and one copy of subject analysis form to NECO Headquarters, Minna while the duplicate copy of the Entry Schedule and subject analysis form will be retained by the State Officer.
(iii) Please NOTE that once the names of candidates are filled on the Entry Schedule and submitted after registration, the Council does NOT GRANT OUTRIGHT REPLACEMENT OF REGISTERED candidates with


UNREGISTERED ones i.e NO REPLACEMENT OF NAME AFTER REGISTRATION.
(iv) On-line registration cards will be made available to Schools by the State officer only after the receipt of completed Entry Schedule, subject analysis forms and evidence of payment made into NECO Treasury Single Account (TSA) from any of the Commercial Banks for the total number of candidates presented.
(v) Schools shall register their candidates for the 2016 BECE on-line using the cards purchased from respective NECO State Offices. The NECO portal captures the entire registration process of candidates and makes all operations accessible via the web-site. The website is www.mynecoexams.com
(vi) After registration, the cyber-cafes must download the candidates’ data and you are to cross-check all entries for necessary correction(s).
(vii) NECO will not be responsible for any error committed during registration.
(viii) Schools should adhere strictly to these registration instructions.
E MINIMUM NUMBER OF CANDIDATES
The minimum number of candidates to be registered by a school is 50 (Fifty). Any school registering less than fifty candidates shall pay a surcharge of N10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) only.
F. REGISTRATION PERIOD AND CLOSING DATE
(a) The registration period is between Monday 18th January, 2016 and Monday 4th April, 2016.

(b) The website will be closed on Monday 4th April, 2016 at 12.00 midnight. Late registration will not be entertained.
(c) The last date for the return of downloaded data of the registered candidates by schools to respective NECO State Offices is Thursday 7th April, 2016.
