Life as a pundit is quite different from the day to day football management as Valencia coach Gary Neville can confirm. The world turned against the ex Manchester United defender as Valencia lost 7-0 in Camp Nou to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey . Things have gotten so bad that a Valencia legend and ex- goalkeeper Santiago Canizares has urged Neville to apologise and resign . Canizares said this "I expected the coach's resignation , as well as some apologies, I may be ignorant, but I am surprised he hasn't. I thought he was honest", he concluded .

Neville took over when Valencia was five points off their Champions League group but presently the team is now five points off relegation . In twelve La Liga games, Neville is yet to win a single one and this doesn't show any sign of abating. One of Neville's greatest problem is the language barrier and this hasn't done him any favours as he continues to improvise with an interpreter. Therefore due to the communication gap, there are signs the players ain't getting the right message from him as it isn't the same with an interpreter.

In certain games Valencia have been lucky and nicked a draw which was undeserved and such games include the Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid game, but when the luck deserts him , his team have been mauled to say the least.

Just last week , Neville broke a negative record as his team lost to Sporting Gijon which ended a 22- unbeaten game run at the Mestalla stretching back as far as 2014. What this meant is that Neville has not won a single La Liga game in 11 attempts. This is a man who is known for his eye for small details and a perfect in depth critical analysis as a pundit.

Surely the fans and club have the right to be angry as an excess of €140 million has been spent on player purchases in the last two years though not under Neville . Though Neville is on a six months contract , it is clear that the teams performance must improve if he wants to escape the sack before his contract runs down . With the availability of seasoned coaches like Manuel Pellegrini, Rafael Benitez, it surely might not take long for him to get the chop. The weekends game against Real Betis therefore represents a "make or break" for the assistant Three Lions boss if he wants to continue in the touch
