There have been various reactions to the public admittance of a personal debt of $53 million by Kanye West, American rapper and designer. The latest is a tweet by Access Bank offering help to the 38-year-old record producer. On Monday, February 15, West took to his Twitter page to reach out to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook co-founder and CEO. Pleading with the entrepreneur to invest a billion dollars in his ideas, West said he did not have enough resources to create what he really could. Quoting a tweet by the award winning rapper, Access Bank wrote “@kanyewest, get in touch. We’d like to listen to your ideas. Beautiful ideas change the world. #TakeTomorrow” Named as one of the 100 most influential people by Time, West has continued telling the tales of his money woes on Twitter. However, a fan has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the rapper raise $53 million. GoFundme is a fundraising website that prides itself on getting the money across to the people in need. Access Bank is a multinational commercial bank owned by the Access Bank group. It was founded in 1989 and got listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1998. The bank is known to partner with celebrities for events, the latest being the Access Lagos marathon that celebrities like Patoranking and LilKesh, Nigerian Hip hop aretistes, signed up for.

Grand standing indeed!. Let Access bank stand with innovative ideas of our young entrepreneurs. Wasn't it last two weeks or so that the story of a young man that modelled a generator powered by biofuels hit the media. What has Access bank done? A lot of ideas by young people that will uplift the family and benefit the nation at large have been left to lie fallow. @Access bank: How is your interest rate like? How do you support S&MSE in their quest for capital/expansion? How is your collateral demand like? Charity begins at home! Because these Organisations benefitted from the system, they should also give support to uplift the Nigerian economy and not just leave it for the government alone while they dance to the gallery.

We have thousands of youths with ideas that access bank could have listen to but they will not......hypocrites........

It would be an annoying disservice to hundreds of thousands of nigerian youths with bright and innovative ideas who have no access to funding that will help them get started. So you would rather fund kanye west ideas than the 29 year old android app developer just next door to you. Then kanye will take your money, use it to build his business and invest in his lousy fashion line, his music, and in his country of 300 million people while many sme's with smart ideas with potential to change your country's economy for the better are just at your backyard languishing in pain under the current economic hardship.

No mind am. Zuckerberg lives a low key and humble life irrespective of his wealth. If Zuckerberg was living like Kanye, he would be in debt by now.
