Before crucifying Buhari government on the naira rate, let me simplify the causes of the economy challenges we are facing as a country.
1. Major income is from crude oil
2. Crude oil price was as high as $120 until about 14 months ago. FG was selling as 2.3million bpd.
3. Sales should have increased our foreign reserves but unfortunately that never came to be because of the gluttons in the govt.
4. Foreign reserve is a major spinal cord of our naira value because crude oil was the only product we were exporting.
5. The Dollars in the FG accounts were used to import refined products higher than the rate we were exporting the crude oil. The reverse should be the case.
6. Now, the crash in the oil prices has made Nigeria to generate less revenue because the major buyers of our crude oil have either stopped or reduced acquisition.
7. As a result of 6 above, dollars with CBN has reduced.
8. If the dollar realised before the oil price crashes were judiciously saved and used, our foreign reserves should not be less than $300 billion and this would have made our naira to be strong.
9. But unfortunately, the money was squandered and we borrowed more.
10. Debt increased, foreign reserves reduced, excess crude oil account became nil. At this stage we started devaluing our naira unconsciously.
11. Instead of investing in our local economy, leaders were patronising foreign products, toothpick and bottled water inclusive. INSANITY.
12. As a result of 11 above, the masses too needed to prove class by neglecting our local industries by relying more on foreign items. So if this is the case, which country will believe in us.
13. Wholesalers must look for Dollars to acquire their items. Naira is losing value again because transactions in naira have reduced.
14. Schools, companies, landlords etc in Nigeria were billing in Dollars. Dollar was turning to legal tender. This must stop and should be totally discourage. Parents now prove class by paying Dollars for school fees in Nigeria.

Angola, an oil producing country like Nigeria, also wasted her revenue and she is going through more difficult time like Nigeria. There is a law, according to a source in the country, that you ( a family) cannot buy more than 3 eggs in a day.
In the real economic term, the official value of Naira should not be officially less than N238 (the black market will not be more than N600)to a Dollar but for the insistence of the President not to devalue the Naira, we would have been experiencing more harsh economy. His argument is just one: We have not achieved anything with the devaluation of Naira since 1988, so let us try something else.

The truth is devaluation of naira is good for those outside the country and the thieves who are withdrawing their dollars from banks and keeping them at home till the end of Buhari's tenure.
At the rate the dollar is in the parallel market, blame those that stole our common wealth and not Buhari because they are the reasons for scarcity.

To make the Naira strong again patronise Made in Nigeria products and transact in Naira. But when it involves life, think twice.
You can now see the problem did not start with this dispensation. If we want the best, we must sacrifice. NO PAIN NO GAIN.
