NCC, please tell folks (especially Nigerian celebrities and/or their bloggers), that enquiring about their marriage status, or asking why they are refusing to marry or date, is not hate speech.

Just thought I should mention this.

Not sure why the aforementioned consider it hate speech. Smacks of tyranny.

Of course in sane climes, sharing of child pornography is a crime. But I know Nigeria isn't a sane society, no wonder several potential paedophiles here have already thrown insults at the man.

Share your views with love, respect and consideration to others. Such laws are all over the world. Say whatever you may, as long as it is the truth, you will be protected by the law. If it is false and hateful, like the baboon and dog blood flowing(yeye people, dem think say we don forget), then you must answer to the law. wink

Mr Tony Ojobo

This was made known by Mr Tony Ojobo, the director of public affairs of the
commission on Monday, February 22 during a discussion on what the new
media has to do with cybercrime act.

The programme which was part of the week-long Social Media Week was
geared towards examining the issue of cybercrime and how it affects the
new media.

Ojobo who was part of the discussant explained that a lot of laws were
available which internet users have failed to familiarize themselves with. He
noted that people misuse the cyberspace by making xenophobic, comments,
hate speech which are contrary to what is allowed.

He cited an example that if a person receives contents that contained child
pornography and shares with other persons using the internet; the person is
likely to go to prison even though he did not produce the material.
Speaking with naij.com, The NCC public affairs director encouraged the use
of the cyberspace with sense.

“Developed countries don’t want regulation of the internet but it is necessary
in developing countries to prevent cyber-crimes. Nigerians are not reading
the law which is why media users, bloggers and journalist are sometimes
sent to prison when they don’t get their facts right.”

Ojobo explained that the laws were not there to deny Nigerians their freedom
of expression but to prevent people from inciting hatred.

Ok make una find work for guys na because guy eyes dey red dis days o

If there is anything next to orgasm, it is freedom of speech. No one born of a woman should try to stop it. We are going forward not backward. Since it is allowed in developed countries which other developing countries are trying to be like or reach their standard, then it is not a crime.

Sharing of child porn is common here on Nairaland and it is wrong on so many levels. I hope they start jailing the culprits one by one. It is not every line you cross. Seun take note.

Freedom of speech that can lead to riots and public disturbance, xenophobia and genocide should be curbed. Too much of everything is bad.
