Thank you jare!.

I schooled in the village, and recited "A" is for Apple all the while, but I had no idea what an Apple looks like. The first time I saw an apple was when I came to the city, many years after I finished primary school.

African scholars and educationist keep blinding children in the name of education!.

Sometimes, I just feel we're indeed stupid to be controlled by white people, even when there're no longer here.

True education cannot happen any place in Africa, cause the parameters for judging what is and what is not knowledge we don't control. Therefore, we've surrendered ourselves to intellectual servitude, which is an advanced slavery happening in our own eyes without us even realizing it.

All these I've been preaching for ages.

A for Apple did not make much sense to me back then anyway, cos I never touched an apple until I became a teenager, I wonder what's wrong with A for 'agbalumo'. undecided undecided

It's already like that, and it has been like that since white people installed educational fraud across Africa. When you say "A" is for Apple you're already saying the same thing. We don't own the language with which knowledge is acquired in school, in the first place. What could be more damaging than that?.

It is better than
A AMBULANCE.
B. BLOOD.
C. CUTLASS.
D. DAGGER.
E. EXPLOSIVE.
F FIRE.
G. GUNMAN.
H. HELL
I. INDIAN HEMP.
J. JAIL.
K. KARATE.
L. LIMPET MINES.
M. MORTUARY.
N. NOTORIETY.
O. OPPOSE.
P. PISTOL.
Q. QUIVER.
R. REVOLVER.
S. STALEMATE.
T. TARGET.
U. UNILATERALITY.
V. VIOLENCE.
X. XTRERMINATION.
Y. YELLOW FEVER.

What about A for Axe?

No matter what object you use, as long as the language is not ours, it's still the same thing. But, it would be better to use 'A" for Axe as you suggested. However, the best would be to use any object the child can relate to on daily basis, except of course where there's none.

Your niece knows far more than you did when you were her age. Try the children of today. You'll then believe in evolution.

You are right but these little things have impact in youngsters mentality. It does sounds like innocent idea but pending implications may cost the parents and community in a long run. A for ATM is a breading ground for future robbers...lol.

I have a young Spanish girl in my neighborhood, she grew up with "M for Money". As she grows, she gives herself "go get money". Her father calls her by that till now but he runs away when she comes around for money grin . She has been asking for money from parents and family and friends and even unknown people since she was 5. When she turned teenager, she's known (till today) as "go get money". Her parents encouraged this innocent idea but could not think of future consequences. Her phone number is filled with older men with $$$ signs next to their numbers. I asked her few years ago what those signs mean?. She said those are her buddies. "If this doesn't give me money, that will give me money". I asked her if she sleep with them?. She said not like that. She calls them "uncle".

She still has them on her phone now but keeps them at the minimum. Shes now adult and has a baby. Her parents could not afford her at all. She demands money a lot. Her boyfriend separated from her due to excess demands. Her exceptions are so high. But if she finds someone who gives her money constantly, she holds on to such person tightly.
