BBCSports:

Nigerian players taking part in the Under-17 World Cup will be subjected to MRI bone scans to determine their ages.
Accusations of age cheating have blighted Nigeria's success at international age group tournaments in recent years.
But Sani Lulu Abdullahi, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is confident the MRI test will bring to an end such accusations.
"We will use the MRI bone confirmation tests introduced by Fifa," Lulu told BBC Sport on Tuesday.
"This is important as we want to be sure that we do it correctly and that players who represent Nigeria at underage competitions are actually the ages they claim to be."
Nigeria have won the Fifa Under-17 World Cup three times - 1985, 1993 and 2007 - but fans and media alike have long questioned the ages of some of the player representing the country.
The Golden Eaglets, as Nigeria's under-17 team is known, will be playing in their own backyard in October as they this year's World Cup.
Lulu insists the present squad under John Obuh will be the first set of Eaglets to undergo MRI scans.

Good move but the fear is the abuse as talented U-17 players will be said to have failed the age test. All in all at least we expect to see players that will play in 5 world cups and the experience gathered will maybe even help us win it at some point.

If Okocha can play in 3 (4 if we qualified in 2006) then a gifted 17 year old Nigerian can play in 6.

I guess this may spell the end of our winning or doing well for that matter in all under-aged categories; men and women. Also it will affect most other african countries as they are as guilty as nigeria.
Dont be surprised south americans brazil et al could be caught out

Age cheat is everywhere. Mostly from Africa and South America. Just that Naija is the king of age cheat. At least we'll ave under 20's playing whether MRI or not.

Kanu was from our U-17 and he has played in 2 (France 98, Korea Japan 2002) but it could have been 4 and if we make it to SA 2010 maybe 5 (was not selected for USA 1994)

This is d best solution if we want Nigerian players nominated for CAF footballer of the year from 2018 and beyond. No be to play two years and marry. IF this guys no even outsmart FIFA self
Re: Nigeria Players To Be Age-Tested by bawomolo(m): 5:25am On Jul 16, 2009

i won't be surprised if we never hear from most of the players in the Olympic squad again.

Sorry but Song is still the Camerounian captain and was held as the main reason (and Geremi) why Cameroun is doing badly in the current world cup campaign. He is fast approaching 50. grin
