Messi’s doctor Francisco Ruiz Marcellán, which is the head of the Urology Service was in a TV3’s program called Divendres where he revealed shocking facts about Messi’s kidney problem.

On February the 9th Leo Messi came back to the Cilica Dexeus of Barcelona where he was operated on for his kidney problems that started during the Club World Cup, the day before the semi-final against Guangzhou from China. Only 2 days after the operation, the Argentine came back to training with the team.

Ruiz explained that Messi endured the game in three games with the use of painkillers:”He played three games with kidney stones, playing with painkillers, because he hadn’t thrown them out.”

Speaking on the lithotripsy process Ruiz continued: “It consists in applying a mecanic energy that generates a fragmentation capacity in the stone, This is done when the stone is too big to be thrown out.”

On the relapse: With his genetic predisposition, it is very likely for him to have two to height kidney stones, until he’s 50.”
