Ahead of his coronation,the Prince of Benin Kingdom and Edaiken N’ Uselu, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa has commenced the performance of the 14-day Iyan-Ehien chieftaincy rites.

The Iyan-Ehien rites are performed by Palace Chiefs who are given special respects.A special group of Palace Chiefs known as Ogbe group under the Ihama N'Ogbe will play a pivotal role during the 14 days procession.

Before the Crown Prince began his journey to the Oba Palace for the rites, he conferred chieftaincy titles on some persons in Uselu community with security officials at various positions in Uselu and Benin City to ensure free flow of traffic.The titles conferred were the Ese N’ Uselu, Oshodi N’ Uselu and the Omuemu N’ Uselu.

According to sources, Iyan-Ehien is the highest level of chieftaincy rites which serves as a gateway for high spiritual attainment.
