Did you watch AFCON & USA 1994 live? Denmark winning Euro 1992 should tell you how low the quality of European football was then compared to now! Going by your assertion, Rohr qualified us for the World cup in his first try. Rohr won the AFCON bronze same as Westerhorf in his first try. Westhorf could only beat low level European team like Bulgaria and Greece. Rohr too defeated Iceland loosing to the Finalist Croatia and Argentina. This Rohr team played Messi and his other Superstars with grit and courage fighting till the last whistle! So what are you talking about. What was your position before Rohr ? I am not saying Rohr is the best for us but stop capping 26 years ago here if you didn't watch it live!
What does watching it live have to do with the discourse on hand except as a form of preening? And yes I watched it live.
When you show me Rohr's Afcon trophy, we will continue this conversation.

I know you will bring up this champions league issue

Mendy is not yet a world class GK

You are a Chelsea fan if I am not mistaken and I don’t expect less from you

If you guys can say drogba is better than Henry then there is nothing wrong if you guys thinks Mendy is world class because of the champions league clean shit record

So if Mendy becomes average in the next 2 season we should still call him world class because of that clean sheet record ?

He is new to top football in a top team like Chelsea ,he needs to keep up this performance and that’s all

I am not a Chelsea fan and will never be. I am just stating facts.

These are the results of a worldwide vote by the ICC to determine who the current best keeper in the world is. Guess who won. I wonder how you can be voted as the best player in the WORLD in your position and not be WORLD class, or maybe world class has a different definition for you than for me.

Stop the generalization. Not all of us share in this school of thought.

Well you're entitled to your opinion.

Ebuehi is defensively more assured than Aina from the games I've seen of both of them. Plus it's not about shifting focus to anyone I'm just giving my honest assessment of Awaziem and Ola in the RB role.

andrewbaba44:

Ola aina is better than awaziem at RB

Awaziem is a CB

You didn’t say anything about Ebuehi ,shebi Na Ebuehi before ,it looks like the focus have been shifted to awaziem grin

Amedino99:

You need consistent top class performance season by season. At least 3 to 4 season before you can be termed world class. Mendy is getting there but he is not yet a world class Goal keeper

Oga leave that one abeg

The average Chelsea fan will tell you mason mount is World class because he won their player of the season with goal wey no reach 10 and assist wey no even reach 10 with inconsistent performance at add it up with grin

To be fair, no be last season Mendy start to good.

He had some pretty good stats at Rennes - especially in his last season, when he had one of the best save percentages in France, and in Europe (I think).

Since you brought up man of the match performance then changed to top 3 performer ?

Aina was not the worst player against Benin ,that one is your own narrative and the funny thing be say Na your pocket e go end

A game the eagles picked 6 points home and away but you Dey find worst performer and Na aina be the worst ,who assisted osimhen goal In the 2-1 win ?

The other one we won 1-0 with a late goal from onuachu so where was aina worst performing comming from when it was onuachu that saved the game and the team where struggling that day

When I say rest you no hear grin

You are so clueless
Ebuehi this Ebuehi that but who dash Iceland penalty for 2018 WC?

Top players in their respective leagues. Please break it down for me what was their actual status at the time.

Again Westerhof built that team after several years. Himself and Bonferere gave us a beautful playing style. And we vanquished African teams with ease especially at the later years in charge.

Komekn, some people here have opined that that team is overrated and they made valid points. Based on individuality at the time were all those players you listed really top players in big leagues?

komekn:

Big difference the players we had then were top players and top players in their respective leagues and clubs.

Consider

Olise
Jjay
Finidi
Yekini
Amokachi
Ikpeba
Amunike
Sia Sia
Ekoku
Adepoju

None of our current strikers are better than Yekini, Ikpeba , Amokachi
None of our wingers are better than Finidi
Nobody pass Jjay and Olise or Sia Sia
Okechukwu the defender no get mate for the current Eagles

Westerhof had very good reason to tbe very confident.

I am sorry but Rohr is just being real.

Mendy has been good at Ligue 1 for sure and very underrated

He is not far from being a world glass GK ,but just needs to keep this consistency a little more
