Too early. Let us see him maintain this form even till next season.

Finidi was up there for almost a decade!
Please can you show me anywhere online where Finidi was regarded as better than Figo. I've heard it since like forever by Nigerians but I didn't see any source.

Personally, this is the most absurd thing I've heard today. Yekini will not make a combined two world cup team. Oga, Yekini will make the first eleven of Nigeria from 1960 to 2016. Don't let people hear this football heresy abeg.

i don't even understand what you are saying again. I thought I made it clear that I am choosing squarely from the two teams in question, the first is the team that represented us at the 98 world cup and our present team. How many games did Yekini play at the 98 world cup?

Ok, you didn't watch Babangida well enough. Wait sef, against Tanzania what was Moses doing? Exactly what you just explained now! Take the ball, focus your face on the ground and run to wherever you want with it. Like Icon4s mentioned, let him be consistent enough
Are you sure you watched the Tanzanian match? Moses does not play like Ikedia please. Moses is direct. He beats his markers, sprays passes, crosses or shoots. Unlike Ikedia, he doesn't hug the touchline.

What was Garba Lawal's position(s) in the team?

He played from the left in France 98.

Chai...una don start o. Do you know when the internet was invented? If Finidi was ever the world's best winger between 1995 and 1998, it will be recorded somewhere. So how come we have documented strides of George Weah?

That's how they said India beat Nigeria 99 - 0.

Then you missed my point. I said Mikel is top 3 in Nigeria's best ever players. If you pick the highlight of both Mikel and Oliseh in club and country, Mikel wins.

Babangida is a mere upgraded Pius Ikedia. Take ball, run with it with the head looking at the ground to the corner flag, and cross hoping for the best.

He's got nothing on Victor Moses.

Babangida was a baller, he scores goals too, makes all those ljungberg kind of runs, plus he had good technique.

I was an Ajax fan as a kid and Tijani was always scoring critical goals.

Highlight as in football highlights or trophy highlights? Because I am not sure Mikel has any individual highlight that is close to Oliseh's rocket against Spain. If you mean the number of trophies won, then no doubt, Mikel, but when it comes to football, on the pitch matter, kai! Oliseh was in a period when we used to dominate every single african team, home and away. Mikel is good, but Oliseh is better

Did u see Babangida when he was at Ajax?

Victor Moses' best game for Nigeria ever was against Algeria in Uyo. He has largely.been disappointing in his entire career.

Go watch Nig-Gha 2000 & see Babangida in action. Even France '98.

Babangida did not do for Nigeria in those two tournaments what Victor Moses did not do in the AFCON triumph in 2013. Have you forgotten his impact in the tournament?

Between 1994 and 1997/8, you could not mention 3 right wingers without Finidi.

Hugging the touchline is actually not a bad thing. That's what people mean when they say you shoud add 'width' to your game, it means instruct your wingers to hug the touchline, funny aint it? Rashford hugs the touchline for Manu, trying to provide width there, so I don't see anything bad with that.

Your main criticism is that he doesn't make penetrating runs and that he does not cross well and all that, agreed Moses made penetrating runs against Tanzania, but his crosses were absurd hence my comparison, or his crosses were on point that day?

But he's nothing close to Moses.

In 36 games, he scored 5 goals for Nigeria. In 27 games, Moses has scored 9 goals.

Technique, Pace, Skills, Crossing, Goals, Moses has got them.

One or Two years sitting on the bench and he might never reach his potential. The boy needs a full season of regular weekly football to reach where he needs to be.
Just imagine if he were to continue training without playing time till next year January. Hmmm

Thank God yesterday's match exposed a lot of things about Nacho.

Nach o needs good training and playing time under Pep. Anything outside this is disservice.

I'm not disputing what you said. I'm only asking for source that he was the best winger in the world like I hear people say all the time. It's also telling that even though it is claimed that he was the best, he left Ajax for Betis when the best in the era went to Barcelona and Madrid in Spain.

Anyway, I believe that it will be close between them. I also believe that Tijani was much more than an upgrade on Ikedia, He was far better.

He was an upgraded Ikedia.

In the match against Tanzania, Moses was his usual dynamic sef and when you are blaming him for the wayward crosses, do you remember how poor Ighalo was in connecting with the wingers?

It's the same thing you guys are saying na. Lolade Adewuyi, a Nigerian, wrote, "Once described as the best winger in the world...". The question is: by whom?

Personally, I think a lot of people on this thread are better than the guys at goal.com, so it's like icon4s writing an article and writing, "Finidi was the best winger in the world in 1997...". Says who? Can we find a link? Is it by FIFA? Or UEFA? Who?

At that time, Yekini was no longer the player he was. He was getting old. We had better strikers had that point. The Prince of Monaco and the great Papilo were the deal. It's not a surprise he was no longer a starter.
