I thought ur argument was about West Africa being poor at this afcon....no bring world cup talk enter am... Even at that, West African teams have reached the world cup quarter final twice.. Nigeria and Senegal could have made it to the next round last year if not for luck...

West Africa still run the game bro...except for the league... the rest are still behind... they ain't catching up anytime soon...

what am saying is this, because of the crap west african sides are playing now, mark my words, they can never do well in any world cup again. The standard is getting worse simple.

What did teams like mali, Ivory coast and Ghana play today? are they not the power houses? even camroon and Nigeria is worrisome

Lol...So it's Southern Africa that has overtaken us ?
Because Nigeria lost to SA and couldn't beat Madagascar?

Wake up to the reality bro. southern African teams are known to play quick country attacking football. they rely on pace a lot.. no be today e start. .even Zambia and Zimbabwe play like that...and I dare say Mozambique too...
But how far have they gone??
Maybe at club level they are better. .but west Africa still run the game...

the southies can never be a yardstick on how the game is improving in africa, it's because the west africans now play crap that makes it look like as if they are catching up. I watched how Senegal struggled to beat Kenya abeg

Never said they have overtaken the west. Check my earlier post. They re improving with speed. And they re catching up. If the west continues with their ball hugging thing, they will start struggling in a near future.

I was actually tipping the north Africans to win the tournament, given the fact that they are host.. But clearly they haven't changed...
Algeria have been very convincing, I think they are the only one who's playing like they really need the cup

Politically and economically you are both right but geographically, they are in West Africa.

Just like Turkey being in the Middle east, yet seen as an European country, same with Russia and Israel.

AFCON 2019: Has Chukwueze
Done Enough To Oust Moses
Simon From Super Eagles
Starting XI?
Published: July 08, 2019
The Super Eagles of Nigeria
will battle the Bafana Bafana
of South Africa in the quarter-
final round of the ongoing
AFCON tournament after
defeating Cameroon 3-2 last
weekend.
Apart from having difficulty in
coming up with a winning
strategy, Super Eagles
manager Gernot Rohr will face
a slight headache as regards
to who should be in his
starting lineup between
Samuel Chukwueze and Simon
Moses.
The 20-year-old Villarreal
winger stared in the team's
1-0 victory over Burundi as he
was included in the starting
lineup by the gaffer.
Despite his fine display
against the AFCON debutants,
the left-footed winger lost his
shirt to Moses Simon in
subsequent matches.
Moses Simon is defensively
important to the team but his
offensive display has left so
much to be desired.
He was far from impressive in
Saturday's game against
Cameroon as he made way for
the Villarreal man in the 60th
minute.
Though Odion Ighalo was the
hero of the night, the spark
and grit that Samuel
Chukwueze brought into the
team at the far end of the
pitch can't be overlooked.
Immediately after his
introduction into the
encounter, Nigeria's attackers
were brought back to life.
The Villarreal youngster wasn't
afraid to take on the Cameroon
defenders in one-on-one
situations.
He drew many defenders to
himself with his dribbling
skills, thereby, creating much
space for Ighalo and Iwobi to
wreck havoc to the Cameroon
defence.
Giving his wonderful display
throughout the time he spent
on the field of play, it won't be
too much to admit that
Chukwueze has done enough
to earn a spot in Rohr's
Starting XI against Bafana
Bafana on Wednesday, July
10.

Throwback

I remember Olofinjana was the Mikel Agu of this team

What was more impressive was Kanu's pass and not really Utaka's goal. Do we have players that can pass like that now?

Udeze was also another carpenter. Back then Enyeama hadn't unleashed

Back then when I was still quite optimistic. cheesy

I dont know if u guys are seeing what I just saw. This Ghana loss has just opened the door for the Madagasis to land a Semi finals berth. Haaaaa what is happening?

Tunisia can not stop those guys that play like they are on drugs. They never get tired of running. They are the talented version of Uganda

But what is wrong with them getting to the final?

They are one of the few teams that have scored in all their games.

They deserve anything they have achieved

they outplayed us both in 1988 and 2000 AFCON final.

They did not.

I have the full 90mins video of that 1988 AFCON Final the game it was even. In 2000 it was also even, though they started off the better side but we crawled back into the game and dominated the second half until we got the equalizer.

Just like some people we also argue that Cameroon were better than us in this last weekend's game.

There is hardly any game we played against Cameroon that they were better than us.

Even the Cup. My prediction will be Madagascar or Senegal. Zambia once did it out of nowhere and so Qatar in Asia recently. Team play win Competition.

Yeye move, he has just consolidated his place in the U23s, with this move he should concentrate on proving himself, he shouldn't dream of super eagles from there. We have better players in his position already. I hope Ademola joins soon.
