Lol..... @not just collecting camp allowance.

Well, If Rohr says so.... smiley Remember how Alampasu impressed ahead of the Algeria game and proved himself in camp but it was always gonna be Akpeyi who also gave a good acct of himself in camp. So it is also partly down to Rohr.

I just wanna see Akpeyi again as Sir Goldfish suggested to see if he can improve even further and maybe keep a clean sheet...

Meanwhile, Ezenwa oooo.... hear Sir Tbaba's voice.... prove yourself grin wink

tbaba1234:

He should not just be collecting camp allowance. He should show that he is up to the task if called upon.

Shocking, our boy just got kicked in the face and got a red card. Still 2-0 NPFL Allstars, Nazifa Yahaya with a brace.

Nafizi Yahaya was part of the Manu Garba team that failed to qualify. So he is certainly in the right age range. Hopefully, he gets a deal abroad soon.

He looks like a good player, the whole team is strong. I wonder how we didn't qualify.

This is a different team, not all Manu boys. Adebayo Adeleye, one of the goalkeepers was also part of Manu's team.

Sundowns are under siege, their best players are the keeper and bar.

Senegal 1-1 Nigeria : Players Rating – MOTM Ndidi, Iwobi Flops, Top Marks For Ogu, Success & Iheanacho

Kenneth Omeruo – Preferred ahead of newly invited Tyroone Ebuehi to start at right back, and the on loan Chelsea man didn’t disappoint despite playing out of position. He was very solid in defending but added nothing in terms of joining the attack even when he had the chance…..6.5/10

These naija journos sef. When did playing Omeruo at the RB amount to him being played out of position? The dude is a RB through and through, we only got him converted to CB in order to meet a need at that time - J. Yobo was at the last legs of his career.
(no pun intended).

So where do u want Iheanacho to play. Or better still Suggest ur preferred front line.

As for the Yekini-Iheanacho talk.
IMO it is still too early to make that comparison. There are several uncertainties in football. Let Iheanacho hit the 20 goal mark first. Then we assess the possibility.
I respect your view, let him hit 20 goal mark first. I'm his fan any way...

He plays alongside Success in a 4-4-2 or he plays between Success and Iwobi in a 4-3-3.

Senegal's goal, What was Akpeyi doing out of the goal? Did he miss his cross?

Yes.... he kinda flapped at the ball.... thus missing it.... (I did mention it earlier) but also look at the positioning of the defenders... they should be man marking not staying overly too close to Akpeyi's goal..... Musa marking sow is a no no... Musa don't have the power to outmuscle sow....

Essentially, he was at fault for the goal.. An unspoken rule of keeping is to only come out for the ball when you are sure about catching it.

True.... he is at fault but I wouldn't blame him entirely for it.... movements of his defenders within the box could also have confused him in his attempt to deal with the cross.... how they were not man marking and left Musa to handle Sow is not so cool.

Another unspoken rule says that a tall player should mark another tall player so as to match his aerial prowess....

Musa and Sow... a total mismatch.

Movement of players does not confuse a keeper coming for the ball, you go through your player, if you have to..

Senegal has more tall players than Nigeria so it is possible that other players had their man.

Actually, it does and can confuse.... not defending Akpeyi... he is at fault but I have seen keepers who miss crosses due to unexpected mistakes from his defenders as minute as a little shove while trying to jostle for the incoming ball.

I don't see Leon and Troost on any man.... one of them or any of the fullbacks could have handled Sow..... not Musa.

I used to keep when I was younger. Your eyes are squarely on the ball if you are coming out for a cross. Your goal is to dominate whoever is in your way. You inform your players that you are coming for it by screaming and your players give you space. If you lose the ball, you can throw everyone off balance and out of position. Watch Jens Lehmann coming for the ball knees first for instance.

Unfortunately, we do not have the full video to properly analyze this. I am sure there were defensive lapses too.

True.... I also was a goalkeeper in my secondary school.... I played and I kept goal. I was that versatile.... I have experienced the mistakes one's defenders can make even when with your eyes on the ball..... which can make you miss it completely...

So it is possible to still get ruffled even when going for a cross. I grew with time though and became very proficient with handling corsses but I have seen even Neuer blow it with a cross....

And ofcos, there were defensive lapses... which is why I cannot make Akpeyi take the 100% blame for that goal but he takes a huge part of it though...
