I am proud of both of them. Henry for his show of commitment and Alhassan for doing the NPFL proud thus far. He is easily the buy of the season and i can see Akwa getting a pretty return from him.

6/6 very difficult but achievable and if we we are able to do that, we would be taken seriously at the WC maybe as dark horses or outsiders with a chance for upsets

We should always strive for the best and see where that takes us. Our goal really should be to win the world cup.

TheSuperNerd:

Well... the Super Eagles twitter handle didn't mention Ndidi among those we are expecting today so this could be why.....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exclusive: Leicester City Star Ndidi Out Of Corsica Friendly, More Eagles To Withdraw

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Leicester City's Young Player of the Year Wilfred Ndidi is out of the Super Eagles international friendly against Corsica due to difficulties encountered traveling to the Island Nation.

The central midfielder is stuck in Nigeria, having traveled to his homeland following the end of the 2016-2017 season.

Ndidi missed his flight to France and due to the nonavailability of a connecting flight to Corsica, he will wait for the Super Eagles players and officials in Paris and join the team for their next match against Togo on June 1.

Another option is for the Nigeria Football Federation to fly him via private jet to the Island which is not feasible because of their financial situation.

It is understood that a number of players are in the same boat as Ndidi and will have to skip the friendly with Corsica.

Corsica is a tourist destination and it's very difficult to get flights to the Island apart from flights operated by Easy Jet, Thomas Cook and private jets from a small airport.

I thought it was due to such logistic issues that Corsica was favoured for the camp ahead of england?

Sure better than fanatic nigerian EPL club supporters..
But Nigeria or never actually suggests if not Nigeria, no other African country. Na wa o.

Praying for Naija to be top dog in the world is another matter.

safarigirl:
Just like whether they win or not will not affect my country, so why should I support them? If your neighbor gets a promotion at work, is it your salary that will increase?

I get emotional about sports, like I say here a lot of times, I take it personal. So yeah, I want my country to be the top dog, is that not better than people who never care about watching a Nigerian match, but won't eat if their foreign clubs lose? undecided

Joebie:
Let's take a look at 3 countries with the highest exports.

Does it follow that MOST of their players are shipped to countries that speak the same language?
i.e Most Brazilians to Portugal
Argentinians to Spain
France to other French Speaking countries (Belgium, Switzerland etc)

I never meant that it was the sole factor but i am sure language plays a role.

Someone who speaks English biko!!!

Kita ki bia.... who says we cannot go 6wins out of 6 in our group?

It is not underrating our opponents but just saying we actually do have the players to make it happen (even though we have a young team).... the only team that can stop us from making it 6 for 6 is Algeria in their backyard (or maybe Cameoroun in their backyard too) but truth is I don't see Nigeria losing a game. We may draw... but lose? uhmmm naahh... I just don't see that yet...

BascoVanVeli:

Ok kool cuz i am hoping we go 6 for 6.

Musa, Mikel, Iheanacho, Shehu Hit Super Eagles Training Camp In Corsica

Six invitees are still being expected to join the Super Eagles at their training camp in Corsica, less than 48 hours before they step out onto the Stade Francois Coty pitch in Ajaccio for a friendly against the Island Nation.

Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa, Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho, Porto's Mikel Agu and Cypriot-based Abdullahi Shehu were sighted at the Best Western Hotel, Ajaccio Amiraute camp of the national team on Wednesday evening.

The squad will have only one training session on Thursday before the clash against Corsica.

John Ogu is out of the game due to a visa hitch, Osimhen is involved in the relegation/promotion playoffs with Wolfsburg and is unavailable while Wilfred Ndidi is stuck in Nigeria after missing his flight to Paris.

Moses Simon (Gent), Isaac Success (Watford) and Noah Serenren-Bazee (Hannover 96) have not yet showed up in camp.

Was ‘bad boy’ Kayode dropped by top NFF officials?
By admin - March 8, 2017378 0

Kayode Olanrewaju
Sources close to Olanrewaju Kayode have insisted the Austria-based striker was very much in the plans of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, but he was eventually dropped from the squad for this month’s friendlies in London because some top NFF officials branded him “a bad boy”.

“Kayode has maintained that he was called up by Rohr, but he was eventually dropped because some top officials said he will never play for Nigeria again because he ‘messed’ up one of their ogas some years ago,” said a source close to the former Nigeria U17 and U20 striker.

This was in reference to his transfer saga that involved former top NFF chief Taiwo Ogunjobi and Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas.

The 23-year-old Kayode has been linked with a move to the Premier League in England on the back of his form at Austria Wien.

This season, he has scored eight goals in 22 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga after he netted 13 goals in the last campaign.

This week, he told a radio station that were he chanced, he would demand answers from Rohr to why he has again been snubbed by the Super Eagles.

“If I had the opportunity to speak with Rohr, i will ask him to check my profile and also why I haven’t got an invitation,” he said in the interview.

The Austria Vienna striker also questioned scouting and yardsticks used to invite players to the Super Eagles

“I think the Super Eagles scouting needs to be extensive enough to consider players who are active in their clubs,” he urged.

“There is no way a player who sits on the bench can be fit enough or better than the one who plays regularly.”
