It is quite interesting that both christianity and islam claimed revelations, at one point or the other, from angel Gabriel. However, the nature and messages of the biblical and quranic angels Gabriels are so different that the two angels gabriels can never be the same person. We will look at the biblical angel Gabriel and then the quranic angel gabriel, their parralel messages and the contrary messages they brought.

THE BIBLICAL ANGEL GABRIEL:

In the gospel according to Luke (1:24-38), Mary got a visitation from angel gabriel who announced the coming of the messiah through her, the angel said to her:

“Rejoice, you are highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her:

“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Then Mary said to the angel:

“How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

And the angel answered and said to her:

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

Here it can be seen that the angel was comforting Mary who was troubled at the angel's message. The angel asked Mary to entertain no fear, that the Lord was with her. The angel Gabriel told mary that that which is was in her womb will be called the 'son of God'. This angel Gabriel appeared almost 600 years before another angel gabriel visited mohammed, the prophet of islam, in an isoloated cave in Hira. This will lead us to the nature and character of the angel gabriel whom mohammed encountered in a cave in Hira and who supposedly gave mohammed all the revelations from allahh.

THE QURANIC ANGEL GABRIEL:
The quranic angel gabriel, unlike the biblical angel Gabriel, had a different approach to dissemination information to mohammed. We will look at some muslim sources and draw some conclusions.

The hadith below highlighrd a powerful spirit being which commanded mohammed to “read and recite” was frightening: Three times, Muhammad related, “He pressed upon me so tightly I thought it was death” (Ibn Ishaq, The Life of Muhammad, trans. by A. Guillaume, New York, 1980, p106. cf. Hadith from Sahih Bukhari, 5:96:5).

It will be observed that this angel gabriel pressed mohammed such that he taught he had passed out, unlike the angel Gabriel which asked Mary not to be afraid. Is there any similarity? No. And again after this horrifying experince mohammed ran to khadija to narrate his experience to her. See details below by ibn Ishaq:

“Woe is me, poet [that is, oppressed by demonic visions] or possessed!” (Ishaq, p106).

After narrating his experince to khadija, his older wife, khadija went to her uncle Waraqa (a Nestorian heretic) who told mohammed that the messages were from God and that he was allah’s chosen messenger. This marks the beginning of mohammed's prophethood.

This supposed angel gabriel later gave mohammed messages quite opposite the messages angel Gabriel gave Mary 600 years before mohammed. The mohammed's angel gabriel also gave mohammed messages quite different from what Jesus did or taught.

So my question is, which angel spoke to mohammed? A demon, a UFO or another evil spirit unkown to man?

It is obvious that the biblical angel Gabriel is not the same quranic jubreel. If they are 2 different angels, the jubreel that mohammed met in a cave must be a demon.
