1) Yes it is possible for you to get a positive assessment for a 4 year course with 2 years experience. 2) You will need to get the assessment 1st to be sure your 4 years degree ( If a Nigerian degree) is assessed as equivalent to Australian degree to claim 15 points. If you are only able to get 65 points your chances for Computer Network and System Engineer is slim next to nothing actually. You will have a better chance if you nominate a less competitive occupation not on Prorata e.g ICT security Specialist (newly added to the 189 list) if you are willing to spend the money for a review just in case you get a negative at first but I think it is worth the try as 65 would be enough for you. 3) With Computer Network Engineer, so far no state is sending out invite though they are sponsoring and we have apply since forever. But for other less competitve occupation people got invite. Oz18: 1 Like |

Hi, In addition to what Zany has said; Based on your degree and duration of study, you're very likely to be assessed positively as a Professional Engineer. However, this greatly depends on how strong your CDR is because even those with 5yr engineering degree still get assessed as Technologist due to below par CDRs. Please take advantage of every opportunity available to you; Get in touch with @Jamson @McTowel01 @Bnimz et al for proper guidance on your best option and fastest route to PR. They all have same degree as you and were assessed positively. Your choice of occupation shouldn't be based merely on your experience but most importantly on the occupation for which you stand a better chance of receiving ITA. You need to compare Telecoms Engr and Electronics Engr in terms of Competitiveness and go with whichever one that can guarantee you ITA asap with 65 points. You can prepare your career episodes from your undergraduate projects and possibly complete it with your NYSC experience. Please DON'T use any project from work experiences that you can't support with adequate documentary evidence. It's great to know you can get 20 points from English. So, you're already more than half way to PR. Career Episode is just a concise report on a project you completed in your nominated or closely related occupation. CDR is a Competency Demonstration Report; it's an assessment pathway for degrees that don't fall under any of the accord agreements. To submit a complete CDR, you'd need Three (3) Career episodes One (1) Professional Engineer Summary A Resume in addition to all supporting documents and proof of ID. victree4: 1 Like |

Hello @all and greetings to the gurus in the house, @bellong, @zanyzara, @catchdwind4rmkd et al. I came across this thread yesterday and it was very much on point for me. I've started reading from the first page since then. Thanks for the huge information been dished out here. Here is my profile. M.Eng. Elect/Elect. Engr, BSc. Elect/Elect., Age 33, 6+ Experience in an Telecom Engineering firm. A family of 5 (3 kids) I plan to write my PTE exam soon and apply for assessment through Engineer Australia EA. I am hopeful to get assessment as professional engineer so as to take the 189 PR route as learnt from the first page of this thread. However, I need some clarifications regarding the financial implication of this hustle because things are a bit tight now. After paying for PTE and paying for Engineer Australia assessment, what other costs do I still need to cover to get the 189 Visa? I read in some pages people asking of statement of account, assets, visa payment etc. Please I need to know these before make PTE payment, being sure to know I'm capable of executing this financially. Your swift response in this regard will be appreciated. Cc @bellong, zanyzara, catchdwind4rmkd, Azy123 |

Good evening house, Congratulations to all who got their ITA and PR. May the joy spread round everyone of us and my you all find favour and grace in the new land. Please for those that assess with their own privately owned companies, did you have to provide employment letter, payslips and co. Or was photocopies of cheques paid into the company account sufficient. All taxes are paid regularly. Please gurus in the house, I need help. Cc @bellong, @zanyzara, @mamajaz, @everyone. |

I came across this thread recently and it has been informative. A big kudos to everyone. I have a B.Eng Mech Eng, Age :39 with a family of 4. I am preparing for my ielts exam by next month and I am hoping to get at it as soon as possible because of the age(almost 40). I am hopeful to be assessed as a professional engineer and I intend to claim work experience as i have 9 years experience in my field. My questions 1) do I need to pay extra for my work experience to be assessed by EA as well as choosing the fast track option. 2) still a bit confused about the career episode and the CDR. 3) what chances do I have before I get the final response against my next birthday which is in Oct next year. As I am hoping to claim point on the age before I reach the 40yrs mark. Thank you. |

Good evening house, Please i need help concerning my CDR. I have finished writing it but need an Expert to help check for corrections. I am assessing for Plant Engineer although i have worked as a Maintenance engineer for five years and has a background in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Also please, is it compulsory to asses work experince with EA? If yes, i have reference letter where my HR mentioned that i have five years experience with the company but with no " exact commencement date or completion dates written" . Can it fly? For the tax returns can i use the lagos state tax card or i need to get the records? Please kindly help folks. |

Ans- u did not mention what you are confused about.Having said that,CDR is an acronym for competency demonstration report. It examines not just your job and what you have done in a particular field but also how you have being able to keep abreast with developments in the engineering field.Career episodes is just a subset of CDR.I advice that u peruse the MSA guide and online booking guide for better understanding. 3) what chances do I have before I get the final response against my next birthday which is in Oct next year. As I am hoping to claim point on the age before I reach the 40yrs mark. Ans-If you have the right documents and points, this process might not take u up to 9months.Kindly work on accruing as much points as possible. Good luck |

Good morning good people. Thanks for the wonderful work going on here. I have been following this thread for a while now as I would love to migrate to Australia through the PR path. I have few things am not cleared on, Please expert in the house help me out. I have a 5years chemical engineering degree here in Nigeria. I have just over 5years experience in the oil and gas industry as Rig Operations engineer and mud engineer . Am 32 years old with a family of three. First question- Can I still apply as Chemical engineer or Petroleum Engineering as my experience is under that category? Secondly, looking at the above I don't know if I can anymore, so I decided the best route will be to go for Engineering Technologist and write a CDR in support of this. Am I correct? Thirdly, for EA assessment, do I need to assess my skilled experience or just Go for Engineering Technologist category and pay for CDR only ? Please note, am yet to write IELTS but am planning to do so once i know i can apply for the PR. |

emiaby: Was in a similar situation. I have BSc and Msc in Chemical engineering and currently practicing as a Reservoir engineer. I SUCCESSFULLY assessed with EA as a chemical engineer and got POSITIVE assessment outcome with my reservoir engineering experience. Most Important thing to bear in mind while writing your CDR and Job description letter is to bring the Chemical engineering aspect to the fore. Wish you the best of luck. 1 Like |

Thanks so much for this suggestion. God bless [quote author=bellong post=61646237]@Fatima04, The person should go with Engineering technologist. However, he/she must be ready to hit above 70points for faster ITA. |
