These Nollywood Veterans were really good and TV back then was a great feeling as people often rushed and were glued to their TV screens.So, we’ve combined our lists of top veteran actors we would love to see on our TV screens again:


1. Pete Edochie

Pete Edoche (born 7 March 1947) is considered as one of Africa’s most talented actors and has won many awards. He came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all time best selling novel, Things Fall Apart.

BBC once flew into Nigeria to interview him for his role in Things Fall Apart for which he won an International Award. Pete Edoche has starred in over 100 Nollywood movies.

2. Zack Orji

Zachee Ama Orji, (Zack Orji) is another captivating Nigerian actor ,director ,producer and filmmaker with a cool and calm persona. Zack was born in Libreville, Gabon, in the 1960s and has featured in numerous Nollywood movies.

Having grown up in Cameroon, Benin and Togo he speaks both English and French fluently.His first movie was in 1991, and was entitled Unforgiven Sin. Since then, Orji has starred in different movies and is now a Nollywood legend.

3. Saint Obi

Saint Obi was a popular on-screen lover boy back then. Obinna Nwafor popularly known as Saint Obi is best known for his roles in Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime and Last Party.

He is now into movie production and directing.

4. Kanayo O. Kanayo

Kanayo

Anayo Modestus Onyekwere (Kanayo O. Kanayo) is another top notch brilliant actor. In 2006 he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. In 1992 he made his debut film appearance in Nollywood’s first major film Living in Bondage. Kanayo has starred in over 100 films and most times lays the role of a bad and evil man.

5. Liz Benson

Elizabeth Benson (Born 1966) is a Nollywood Actress whose rise started from the soap opera “Fortunes” in 1993. She later switched into home movies like “Glamour Girls” (1994), True Confessions and Izaga to mention a few. The Efik born acting diva is one of Nigeria’s most prolific actresses and holds a degree in Dramatic Arts.

6. Sam Dede

Nigerian movie producer and director, Sam Dedetoku was like the Al Pacino of Nollywood. He has starred in over 30 movies and directed over 10. Any movie this man features in becomes a hit. Blood Money and Issakabba are two Nollywood movies that made him a hero among his folks and fans of Nollywood.

Sam is from Okrika in Rivers State and is the last born of a family of eight. He grew up briefly in Sapele before relocating to Port Harcourt where he has lived all his life. His dad was a soldier, who fought in the civil war and was in the medical corps of the Nigerian Army before his death in 1972. Sam was a former lecturer at the University of Lagos. Now, he lectures in the Department of Theatre Arts in the University of Port Harcourt.

7. Eucharia Anunobi

Eucharia Anunobi is a graduate of English from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Popularly known and called UK, she came to limelight in the movie titled “Glamour Girls”.

8. Tony Umez

Tony Umez is a vertan actor who carved a niche for himself in the Nollywood industry. He made a debut into Nollywood, in 1994, with the blockbuster movie, Died Wretched: Buried in N2.3m Casket. He has featured in over 200 movies, in the English, Yoruba and Calabar genre, such as Blood of the Orphan, Fire on the Mountain, Out of Fire, Millionaires Club, No Rival: Ko si Orogun, Oyato, Tin ba Taiye Wa, Billionaires club, Ikaiko Restaurant, among many others.

9. Hilda Dokubo

Hilda Dokubo. Actress. Hilda Dokubo was born as Hilda Dokubo Mrakpor. She is an actress, known for Black Maria, End of the Wicked (1999) and Onye-Eze (2001). She was nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best actress in supporting role.

10. Ejike Asiegbu

Ejike Asiegbu is a Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Port-Harcourt. He was one of the pioneer practitioners in the Nigeria film industry. Ejike Asiegbu who had long loved acting like it was a vein in his flesh running its own blood supply, was among the cast of Child of Circumstance shown then on Anambra Television Authority. He was also a member of Basi and Company, where he played the role of Basis father and in other soaps such as, New Masquerade, Beyond the Realm and so on. He has since featured in several Nollywood movies, mostly seen playing the role of a village elder and father.

11. Alex Usifo

Omiagbo Alex Usifo is a veteran actor and movie producer who has starred in many Nollywood movies. In 2012 Achievers International University and Seminary, Spain in conjunction with Action Word Educational Services, Lagos, honoured the veteran actor and movie producer with a doctorate degree in recognition of his excellence in artistic performance in the entertainment industry.

His journey into the world of theatre and screen started in the early ’70s when he was appointed as operations assistant at NTA Benin (camera/audio manager). He has since risen to one of the brightest ‘A’ List actors on the continent of Africa. He has featured in well over 100 films amongst Silent night, Who will Tell the President?, Civil Army, Dangerous Sisters, Cross & Tinapa, End of the Wicked, Endtime, Executive Decision, The Last Option, Extra Time, Final Point 2, Armageddon King, Gods of Liberation, Dogs Meeting and so many blockbuster movie.

12. Lilian Bach

Half Polish and half Nigerian, actress and model Lilian Bach was a beauty on the screen. She came into the limelight in the 1990s as a model. She also competed in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and featured in several television commercials, becoming the Face of Delta. She commenced her acting career in 1997, starring in several Nollywood movies of the Yoruba and English genres. Her famous movies includes: Married to a Witch, Outcast, Eja Osan and From Grace to Grass
