Black Marketers Remain Defiant In Katsina Despite Warning From Police by Nobody: 11:34am On Apr 29, 2016
Black marketers selling petrol in plastic containers still held sway yesterday in Katsina State, despite police order to clamp down on them across the country.
The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, had reportedly ordered all state commands to arrest anybody found selling petrol or related products in plastic containers. The report said the order was due to the sufferings experienced by people buying fuel, as well as fire outbreaks often caused by hoarding of fuel in residential houses.
But it was however, business as usual in the state capital and surrounding council areas as several black marketers were observed selling the product in gallons. In Batagarawa, Charanchi, Jibiya, Mani, Kankia, Kaita, among other council areas, black marketers were still seen displaying and selling their product by the roadside.

This is even as several fuel stations on Wednesday opened for business in the state capital, with the long queues witnessed in recent weeks disappearing. The development may not be unconnected with the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, KRPC’s, commencement of daily release of two million barrels of petrol to the market.
Efforts to get the reaction of the police spokesperson in state, Aminu Sadiq, on the issue proved abortive, as he did not respond to message to his phone.
